Okay, so we all know the last time I gave birth was over 20 years ago with my daughter Shaniece. Currently, I'm seven months pregnant and every time I look at my belly, I still can't believe it. ¡Ay Dios mío!
A lot has changed in the world of babies since the last time I gave birth–back then my daughter had a wind-up swing for crying out loud!

Because SO much has changed in the mommy world, I often ask my girl, __Danika–__who has three kids–what to do! For instance, I had NO idea that baby food now comes in pouches and I didn't know that you can now purchase organic baby food!
Twenty years ago, breastfeeding wasn't the thing to do. Now I'm getting all of this advice about breastfeeding and how to do it and breast pumps! Still, to be totally honest, I'm not sure that I want to go the breastfeeding route this time around.
There are so many things I have to learn (or re-learn) before my blessing is born. I love that I'm able to go through the process of being pregnant and becoming a mom all over again. This really represents a new beginning to me and as a more mature mother, I plan to do a host of new things with my second child. After all, I learned a LOT from raising Shaniece and she has become a lovely young woman who I'm SO proud of!
But I'm also curious: Am I the only expectant mom who thinks things have changed dramatically over the years? Has anyone else had babies years apart and felt like you had to learn a TON of new things? If so, please share your advice below. I want to hear from you!
¡Gracias, mujeres!

Basketball wife
Back in 2010, Evelyn joined the cast of VH1's hit series Basketball Wives, where she became an overnight star with one-liners like, "You're a non-mutha******* factor bi***" (which became a popular slogan and led to a "non-factor" T-shirt, among other things). She also released a popular T-Shirt (which we want to buy!) called, "You ain't about this life." Ev was EASILY the show's most popular star, because, unlike some of the other ladies, she ALWAYS kept it real!
Eve-LUTION!
In June of 2012, after a LOT of drama on Basketball Wives, Evelyn took some time off and wrote a touching letter to her 7-year-old self entitled, "I Will Try To Be Better." In the letter, published on The Huffington Post, Evelyn apologized for some of her behavior on the show and recalled the days when she "drowned out the fighting and drama" in her own house as a child.
Goodbye, Chad
Although she loved Chad at the time, Evelyn decided to end her marriage to the former FNL star after he assaulted her. "Domestic violence is not okay and hopefully my taking a stand will help encourage other women to break their silence as well. I’m grateful to my family, friends and fans for the outpouring of support during this difficult time," she wrote at the time.
Choosing love over pain
In September of 2013, Evelyn launched her foundation Pain is Not Love, which focuses on helping women affected by domestic violence. So how involved is Ev with the foundation? Let's just say she writes back to almost EVERY victim who writes her and gives them advice (she's even met with victims in person to offer advice and help them heal). Talk about an inspiring Latina!
Cover Girl
In August of 2013, Evelyn posed for the cover of Latina Magazine, joining past cover girls like Jennifer Lopez, Salma Hayek, Zoe Saldana and Shakira. "This is a dream come true," she gushed at the time. She looked stunning!
Tacones, tacones!
Everyone LOVES Ev's badass style, so in September, OK! Magazine asked the trendsetter to join the magazine as their celebrity fashion blogger. Love shoes? Check out her badass shoe game here!
She's Becoming a Mini-Mogul
What started out as reality TV stardom for Evelyn has evolved into a career that includes her own makeup line, Vida Lux, an endorsement deal with the age-defying solution YouthH2O, and a deal to be the face of PearlBrite teeth whitening. She also bared her skin for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). Way to go, Ev!
Mommy Makeover
Evelyn has grown tremendously over the last two years and her transformation has made her extremely happy. But it's not enough to her to be happy herself–she also wants her fellow Latinas (and fellow moms) to be happy as well. So, despite her VERY busy schedule and myriad of projects, Ev joined MamasLatinas.com in August as our "Mommy Makeover" blogger, writing a weekly blog about motherhood and beauty and connecting directly with our MamasLatinas readers. That's what we love most about Ev: She's always thinking of others!
Fixed Her Life
The moment Evelyn noticed that her behavior on Basketball Wives was influencing her nieces, the reality star met with life coach Iyanla VanZant (of the OWN network show Iyanla: Fix My Life). During the emotional interview, Evelyn revealed that her greatest fear was "losing it all." She explained that she was no longer afraid of losing it all and that she wanted better for herself and she proved what we already knew: that she's a badass who confronts her problems head on!
Expectant Mom
Last but not least, the Puerto Rican star announced some VERY happy news: She is six months pregnant with her second child! if Shaniece is any indication, this baby is going to be BEAUTIFUL, smart, and talented! We can't to see Ev as a new mom. Happy birthday, Ev!
