Biggest baby in the U.S. was born & weighed HOW MUCH!?

Joel Brandon Jr. was born on May 9 of this year at Timpanogos Regional Hospital in Orem, Utah. His mother Sarah Brandon was told that he would be a biggie as it was estimated that he was weighing in at about 11 pounds at his last ultrasound, but she had no idea just how big her not-so-little bundle of joy would be. I don't think anyone whould have imagined exactly how much he would weigh. He weighed so much he might be the biggest baby born in the U.S. in 2013. Are you ready for this?

He weighed in at exactly 14 pounds at birth!14 pounds on the nose, no ounces! The thought of it makes my crotch cringe, however J.J. (as he is nicknamed) was delivered via C-section at 38 1/2 weeks and not vaginally (my vagina just sighed in relief). I know having a C-section is no walk in the park, but I can't even imagine delivering a 14 pound baby vaginally, can you?

His large size is attributed to Brandon's type one diabetes and family genetics on her hubby's side.

J.J. had to spend some time in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at first, but he's been a happy, healthy baby ever since. He has twin sisters that are 2 years old and he wears the same diaper size that they do.

Can you imagine? This baby skipped right past anything in a "newborn" size. I'm glad both mommy and baby are healthy and we'll have to wait out the rest of this year, but so far it looks like J.J. just might be the biggest baby born in the United Sates in 2013.
