I came across a video of a mother "disciplining" her daughter that quite frankly makes me sick. Apparently the girl was caught skipping school. Look, I TOTALLY get that education is important and that as a parent you can not support your child missing school and getting into who knows what kind of trouble. Of course, there should be consequences to a child playing hooky from school.
But what this mother in China does to her daughter is inexcusable. She beats her in public in a way that is not only abusive but humiliating. I'm pretty sure you will find the video of this girl getting beat for skipping school as disturbing as I do.

The video starts off with the girl on her knees out in public. Her mother is obviously yelling at her and it seems she tells the girl to hit herself. The girl slaps herself across the face multiple times. HARD! Then she slaps herself across the other side of her face. HARD!
As if having your child on her knees and forcing her to hit herself is not bad enough, the mother then takes some kind of a switch-looking thing and just starts beating on the girl. Finally, at the end of the video, what appears to be an officer walks up and hopefully stops the beating.
What exactly does that mother think she is teaching her child? I think the child is learning that her mother is abusive and can not control her temper. What the hell? Is she trying to beat the love out her daughter?
