When I was pregnant I couldn't wait to see my babies even if it was just via ultrasound. I never got one of those fancy 3D or 4D ultrasounds, but I was still excited over my blurry black and white pre-born baby photos. If I could have been able to turn those ultrasounds into a 3D ultrasound baby doll would I have done it? I'm not sure, but a couple is trying to get their 3D Babies project funded via Indiegogo so they can provide parents or parents-to-be with the ability to create 3D versions of their unborn babies. I can't decide if I find this idea endearing or creepy.

The intent is to offer the dolls in 3 different sizes and 3 different skin tones. From the pictured examples, I'm thinking the dolls are kind of creepy. Let's face it babies take a while to stop looking like creatures from another universe and they certainly still look alien-ish while in the womb. Would really want to have a creepy doll version of my unborn babies?
Here's the thing though. One of my babies, my second, had some complications and there was a very real possibility that she might not make it. We are beyond blessed because she did make it and she is thriving, but it makes me wonder if the outcome would have been different if perhaps I would have treasured any sort of physical remembrance or depiction of her.
This project is still in the funding stages so don't run out to your nearest mall in hopes of finding a 3D Baby stand. When the dolls become available they will be made with the use of photos and a 3D printer. These are crazy technological times we live in, my friends.
