I'm all for teaching my kids to stay fit, but I refuse to spend hundreds of dollars doing so–especially when it comes to my 4-year-old who gets a kick out of running in circles in our backyard. But, if you don't mind dishing out almost $300 for eight classes, and you live in New York City, you can send your child to a CrossFit gym that caters to tots as young as 3.
If that's not the definition of ludicrous, I don't know what is!

Now, before you go all crazy wanting to call Child Protective Services because, clearly, putting kids through the strenuous workouts that CrossFit is known for is child abuse, let me clarify that the tots won't be using any weights. The workouts have been modified for the little ones, but the concepts of strength, conditioning and circuit training are still very much a part of the kiddie classes.
In other words, you get to drop a ton of money so your kids can do some of the same stuff they would by just being kids: jumping, running, riding their bikes, etc. I know we have a huge problem with childhood obesity in this country, but CrossFit Kids is not the answer, people!
I'm sorry, but I just can't get over how ridiculous this concept is. I'm not saying you shouldn't sign your kid up for those tumbling classes they offer at children's gyms, but I can assure you they don't cost almost $300 a month, even though they'll probably get to do some of the same things. Or, you can always just walk over to your nearest playground and let them go wild … for FREE!
