OMG! I can't even imagine it! But a mom went from having four kids to having nine in less than five minutes when she delivered quintuplets last Friday in Arizona. Evonne Derrico knew she was pregnant with quadruplets, but it wasn't until the later that a fifth baby was discovered in her womb. The 33-year-old mom, who already had two boys and two girls, has now added two more boys and three more girls to her family.

The five tiny babies–whose names all start with the letter D, like the rest of their siblings–weighed less than three pounds each and are currently in the neonatal intensive care unit at Banner Desert Medical Center in Mesa where they're expected to stay for at least one month. Most quintuplets are born at 28 weeks, but Evonne was able to hold off until 32 weeks, which allowed the babies to get bigger and stronger.
According to her husband, Deon Derrico, the quintuplets were conceived without the use of fertitly drugs. Although the couple has some experience with multiples–which obviously run in the family–since they have 1-year-old twin boys, I'm sure quintuplets are a whole other ball game!
In all honesty, I think I'd go crazy if I had nine kids, with seven of them under 2 years old! I mean, I only have two kids and some days I just want to run away from it all because I feel so overwhelmed. How will this couple manage to raise their nine kids? I'm talking not only emotionally, but also financially.
I guess they'll just have to take it one day at a time and accept any and all forms of help they can get from family and friends. For now, dad Deon says the main thing is finding a vehicle that can transport 11 people, including at least eight car seats. ¡Qué locura!
