I'm always looking for ways to be more involved in my kids' lives, and sports are a great way to connect with them. I love rooting for them at games and being team mom when I can be. I definitely see my day to day job as making sure my family is the best they can be in sports and in life. Kind of like having my own "Team Family" for which I am the "Family Manager."
Both my kids started playing soccer in our town's league when they were four years old. I want to help my kids do their best, and for me that means making sure they make friends, stay healthy and are on the path to success. Being "Team Family" Manager takes a lot of work! I try to find them a sport to play every season: swim team in the summer, soccer in the fall and softball in the spring. I am always trying to find new ways they can participate. And as much as I love cheering them on from the sidelines, finding fun activities for us to enjoy togetheris very important for me too.
One important thing is to make sure my kids don't start off on an empty stomach. Before a game or practice, I love to feed them my favorite cereal from when I was a kid, Frosted Flakes, as part of a balanced breakfast. Back in my home country, they were called Zucaritas. My kids love it too! It's really important to me to keep traditions going strong, and feeding them something we all love makes for great family time before we get started on our hectic schedules.
Being "Family Manager" is a great way to stay close and do everything together. No dropping them off at games: I stay to cheer! I try to fill every day with fun and physical activity, because life is made up of the little moments when you're doing things together.
I'm Mom, Family Manager!
