There's a new sick sex trend out there and it's called "reproductive coercion." It's pretty much when men try to sabotage women's birth control methods to trick them into getting pregnant. I found this particularly interesting, because for years I've always heard of it being the other way around–where women lie about being on birth control or poke holes in condoms to get their partners to get them pregnant, and thus more attached. But it looks like men have now caught on to the scary phenomenon. Now why would any man want to do this?

Well, he might be doing it as a mean to exercise his control over you. According to researchers, a man that tricks a woman into getting pregnant against her own will might just be doing it to "keep you in his life forever." The 2010 study that was completed by Rebecca Levenson of Futures Without Violence and Dr. Elizabeth Miller of the U.C. Davis School of Medicine, have found a link between men that do this and domestic violence. Levenson surveyed 641 women that were between the ages of 18 and 41 and found that 16 percent of them had experienced their partners trying to mess with their birth control and a third of those same women had also experienced violence from their partners.
Think about it: If a man gets you pregnant you'll suddenly feel a need to depend on him and whether you stay together as a couple or not, he's still going to be in your life for a very long time because of your child. So it's really a power issue for them.
"We've had people say, 'He pulled my IUD out, or he took my money so I can't buy birth control,' everything you can imagine," Levenson told the Daily News. She also claims there are red flags you can pick up that may suggest that your man is doing this, and him swearing that the condom ripped numerous times could be one. "We train providers to recommend women take medication out of its packaging, put it in an envelope or a pill bottle," she said. "It's a harm-reduction strategy."
It's really disturbing to me that any man would even consider doing something like this. This is definitely a form of abuse and clearly a way for them to posses control over a woman. So sick!
