Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler announces her unborn baby’s fatal condition, is praying for a miracle

__Washington state's first Latina congresswoman, Jaime Herrera Beutler, recently revealed some devastating news about her pregnancy. The 34-year-old Republican announced back in May that she was expecting her first child. but sadly she recently discovered that her unborn baby has developed a disease that's quite serious and could even be potentially fatal.

Herrera Beutler revealed her unborn baby suffers from Potter's Syndrome, a condition in which an unborn baby's kidney's don't develop properly. Since the kidneys fail to produce amniotic fluid, the baby is not cushioned from the walls of the mother's uterus and this could lead to physical problems, like facial deformity, abnormal limb development, and even lung problems. It's a very serious condition which in some cases can even lead to death shortly after the baby is born. Herrera Beutler and her husband announced the tragic news regarding their baby on her Facebook page this week.

"A few weeks ago Daniel and I excitedly announced that we were expecting our first baby later this fall. This post is to let you know about a sharp turn our journey has taken. At a recent, routine ultrasound appointment we received the difficult news that our baby has a serious medical condition called Potter's Syndrome. We have had a second opinion and the medical diagnosis was consistent with the initial news: there is no medical solution available to us. We are praying for a miracle.

This is absolutely devastating. This woman has broken so many barriers in her career,  from being the first Latina congressional representative from Washington to potentially becoming the fifth woman in history to give birth while still serving in congress. And just when she was ready to start her own family this tragic situation occurs.

So many people have responded and offered their support on Beutler's Facebook page. In fact, her post went up on Tuesday and she already has over 400 comments. Beutler and her husband are hoping for the best, but in the meantime she's still continuing to serve in congress.

This is truly heartbreaking and even though there seems to be no medical solution, I'm really hoping for a miracle. I can't even imagine how scared and devastated  Buetler and her husband must be. My prayers go out to them and the health of their baby.
