They call them the "terrible twos" for a reason. Two-year-olds are monsters! Absolutely adorable monsters, but monsters nonetheless. They discover their voice and that they can use it against you. They think they can reason while being totally unreasonable. The only acceptable request to even their most ridiculous requests is a yes.

Unfortunately, as a parent if you want to keep them alive to become 3-year-olds, you will have to say no to many of their demands. They do not take kindly to resistance of any kind.
Sometimes all you can do is laugh, which is why I love the webseries Convos with My 2-Year-Old created by dad Matthew Clark. Matthew reenacts actual conversations he's had with his 2-year-old, but the part of his 2-year-old is played by a grown ass man. When you take the toddler cuteness out of the behavior you can really see just how absurd 2-year-olds are.
If you missed the first episode of Convos with My 2-Year-Old, I highly recommend you check it out. I got a laugh out of it and I'm super excited that Clark has followed up with a second episode that deals with the whole night time routine.
I kid you not, I've had the conversation depicted in the video with both of my children. Two-year-olds just don't want to stay in bed and they think they are so sneaky and clever with all their excuses.
