Truth be told: A pregnant woman’s weight is off limits

If you are a celebrity, you are at the mercy of the general public. More times than not, you are either too skinny or too fat. I think this is disgusting because I think it is disgusting to judge anyone by his or her weight. Of course, if you make your living based on what you look like, I guess you have to expect the good with the bad. I think the tabloids have taken it one step too far though.

Recently, I saw a photo of a very pregnantKim Kardashian, who is due in July, dressed in a black and white dress. The tabloids ran her photo next to that of an Orca whale. They've also been running headlines like "I Can't Stop Eating."

I don't care if Kim Kardashian is always in the limelight and makes her living by inviting people into her life on a daily basis, you simply do not make fun of a pregnant woman's weight. End. Of. Story!

Humiliating Kim Kardashian is just as bad as humiliating the everyday mom-to-be that you see on the street. She is a woman, growing a child and it is hard work. We are at our most vulnerable when we are pregnant. Our bodies are not our own and we feel self-conscious and out of sorts.

It is awful enough that we live in a society that thinks it's okay to judge people on their BMI and fat shame women and children, but now we are stooping to berate and insult pregnant women.

I am not a fan of the Kardashians. Yet, I think it is horrible to ever make fun of any pregnant woman's weight. Weight gain is the part of pregnancy that we all have to endure. No one likes it, but what's the alternative? Not gaining weight and having an unhealthy pregnancy.

There is so much speculation about how much weight she has gained, as if it is our business in the first place. When I was pregnant with both of my daughters, I gained 18 pounds total, but my body changed in every which way. For the first time in my life, I had a J.Lo ass, my hips got curvier, and my breasts got bigger. I looked like an out of control Jessica Rabbit. I felt like I was trapped in a body that I had no control over. For someone who has always had body issues, pregnancy was me walking around in the world like an open wound. My body had a mind of its own. The only comfort I had was the fact that I was growing a baby and it all had a purpose.

Not until I was 8 or 9 months pregnant did I even look pregnant and then I looked like I had gained 100 pounds all in my belly. I gained 18 pounds and was very self-conscious. If someone would have commented on it to me, let alone had it been national news, I would have been devastated.

Can't we all just agree that pregnant women, yes, even celebrities, are off limits to make fun of when they are pregnant? Give her a damn break.
