A 22-year-old Ohio mother is suing an abortionclinic after doctors there performed a procedure that allegedly failed to terminate her pregnancy.
Medics reportedly told Ariel Knights that she suffered from a condition that could put her life at serious risk should she go ahead with the pregnancy. After agonizing over the decision, Knights–who was engaged and already had a son in preschool–decided to have an abortion. She had the procedure at Akron Women's Medical Group in March 2012 and was given the all-clear by the doctor. But days later, she became ill and had to go to the hospital. When the doctor ran an ultrasound on her, Knights was shocked to learn that she was still pregnant! Oh my god, can you imagine?!

When Knights attempted to contact the Akron abortion clinic, they denied the allegations against them. After another clinic refused to treat her for what they called "somebody else's mistake," her and her fiancé decided to go ahead with the pregnancy. Despite suffering some complications–including several trips to the hospital–she was able to deliver her little girl, whom doctors are calling a "miracle baby," safely.
Wow! I'm so relieved to hear that Knights and her little girl are both healthy. She must be so relieved that she decided to continue with the pregnancy and now has a beautiful baby in her family. Still, I can't really blame her for being angry with the clinic. It must have been hard enough to make the decision to terminate the pregnancy, even while knowing it could kill her … but to then find out the so-called procedure hadn't even worked? What if something had happened during the labor or the rest of the pregnancy?
Regardless of what happens with the case however, Knights should be grateful that she won out in the end either way. After all, had things not gone the way they had, they might not have their little girl with them today.
