20 Unique Latino baby names perfect for your little one

I'm a big fan of unique baby names. I haven't made any decisions, but I know for sure that when the time comes, I don't want anything that can be found on the top 500 names for kids, you know what I'm saying?

I used to hate my name–Mariela–when I was a kid for a few reasons. Mainly, no one could ever pronounce it, and also all the other kids in my very homogeneous town in Connecticut were always asking, "Mariela? What kind of a name is that?!"

My parents were under the impression that my name was way more unusual than it actually is. My mother wanted to name me Marisol and my father wanted to name me Ariella and for days after I was born, they were at a stalemate. Finally, they combined the two names and that is how I became "Mariela".  My parents thought they were the coolest, most original people on the planet and it wasn't until the advent of Google that I realized my name is actually quite common in Argentina and Italy. Still, I don't often come across other Mariela's and I have really grown to love my relatively unique name.

I want to give my child the gift of a unique moniker too and believe me when I say I've been thinking about this for a looooong time. The names below might not guarantee your child grows up to be a millionaire or anything like that, but they will ensure that your little one sticks out of the pack!
