It's safe to say that Sofia Vergara is at the peak of her career. With the success of her TV show Modern Family, her Kmart clothing line, and movie roles, Vergara has it all. But the star seems to believe she is lacking one thing: a baby. But even that she's reportedly taking care of! Reports are swirling that the 40-year-old Colombian actress is having a baby via a surrogate.
The New York Post reports that they got the exclusive scoop that Vergara asked a close friend to carry the child which will be biologically hers and fiancé Nick Loeb's. Oh my God, could it be true?! Will Manolo finally have a little brother or sister!?
It's great that there's a chance Vergara wants to add to her family, since her son, Manolo, is already grown up. But her career is non-stop right now, so having a baby might force her to slow down. However, this might work in her favor since she is already playing mom on her show and her character just had a baby!

Remember Vergara's absence during the Oscars last month? She claimed to have missed it because of the flu, but the rumor mill says that it may have had something to do with her surrogate mother. The National Enquirer reports that Vergara's surrogate experienced a miscarriage scare a couple of days before the Oscars causing her and Loeb to rush her to the hospital. The publication says the surrogate is fine, but the couple used the flu excuse to deter the press.
Reports indicate that Vergara is in the very early stages of planning the surrogacy and has yet to find out if she is going to be a mother for the second time. The National Enquirer adds that Vergara chose not to carry the baby herself because Loeb didn't want her to ruin her body or career with pregnancy. Vergara's rep has yet to address the rumors, but we will learn if this news is true in a matter of time.
The idea of Vergara becoming a mom again is very exciting! But I find it ridiculous that her fiancé would be concerned about her ruining her body with pregnancy. There are so many Hollywood moms who have babies and bounce back into even better post-pregnancy shape. I mean, I know it's the Enquirer reporting this, so we can take it with a grain of salt, but still. I can understand her hectic lifestyle being unhealthy to carry a baby, but I guess until she confirms the news, we can only wait and see. Although we're certain that any child she has will be adorable and have quite the spunky personality–much like his (or her!) mamá.
