6 Famous Latina moms passing on cultural traditions to their kids! (PHOTOS)

I've always loved Salma Hayek–not only because she's talented, but also because she's such a fiercely proud Latina and a dedicated mom. That was made even more abundantly clear when the 46-year-old star recently revealed to Us Weekly that she keeps little souvenirs in her purse that remind of her daughter!

"When I go out, my 5-year-old daughter, Valentina, gives me something to remember her," she said.  "She calls it un recuerdo and it changes all the time. She sneaks it into my bag so it's a surprise!"

Aww! How adorable is that?!

I love that she's so devoted to her daughter, especially when it comes to teaching her all about her Latin culture. And it's so sweet seeing how obviously close the two are. Actually, their little tradition reminds me of my mom and I when I was younger–we also used to give each other recuerdos. I even still have a locket she gave me the first time I went to kindergarten!

But Hayek isn't the only Latina celebrity mom to make sure her child knows all about their background. Below, 5 more of our favorite stars that have taught their kids to embrace their culture:

Sofia Vergara raised her son, Manolo, bilingually and biculturally, always making sure he remembers his roots. In fact, in one of the episodes of his YouTube show Mi vida con Toti, Manolo himself admitted that their life is less Hollywood than it seems and "more Barranquilla" (the city in Colombia where Vergara grew up)! At one point, he even calls their chaotic lifestyle a "typical Latin mess."

Shakira & Milan

Shakira is already teaching little Milan to love the sport that's a staple in many Latin households–futbol. She's already taken him to his first game to cheer on pro dad Gerard Pique!

Jennifer Lopez & Max and Emme

All Latinas know how important abuelas are and that's exactly why Jennifer Lopez has made sure her twins have gotten to know theirs. Despite having a rocky relationship, Lopez and her mom Guadaloupe became close after the birth of twins. Guadalupe even accompanied the megastar on tour and tutored her then 4-year-olds so they would be prepared for kindergarten this fall.

Jessica Alba & Honor and Haven

Jessica Alba says she raises her daughters the same traditions she participated in growing up–which includes eating lots of Mexican food and singing to her kids in Spanish!

Adriana Lima & Valentina

Brazilian model Adriana Lima is making sure her older daughter, Valentina, embraces the cultures of both parents. In fact, the young girl is already trilingual–in addition to English, she can speak Portuguese and Serbian (where her father is from). Impressive!
