We congratulate Shakira on the birth of her baby boy Milan Piqué Mebarak!!! He came into the world today at 9:36 PM in Barcelona, Spain. The hospital confirmed that Shakira & Pique's first child weighed approximately 6 lbs. 6 ounces. Mommy and baby are said to be in excellent health, which is a relief since it was mentioned that there could be complications.
As per Shakira's announcement on her own blog, the name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn), means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification.
We're sure going to miss that cute baby bump she was sporting this whole time! It's been so fantastic seeing her experience the transformation from sexy pop star to mommy-to-be over the last 6 months.
Until we get our first pics of baby boy Milan, we are going to look back on how this all began–from her breakup with longtime BF Antonio de la Rua, to her romance with the famed footballer–Shakira's been quite a busy lady the last few years!

Shakira breaks up with Antonio de la Rua: Even though Shaki and Antonio, the son of a former Argentinean president, had been dating for more than a decade, the twosome decided to call it quits in early 2011. He was left with a bitter taste in his mouth and later in 2012 decided to sue the pop star for 250 million dollars blaming Shakira for basically breaking up with him.
Rumors of a new romance for Shakira: Although Shakira was still technically with ex-boyfriend De la Rua in 2010, there were rumors that she was romantically linked to FC Barcelona soccer player Gerard Piqué. She met Piqué in 2010 while filming the video for "Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)" during the World Cup. It wasn't until Piqué's 24th birthday in February of 2011 that rumors fueled even more after Shakira appeared in his birthday pictures while out with friends.
Shakira and Gerard become official: These two certainly didn't intend on keeping their relationship secret! In March 2011, Colombian magazine Caras published a photograph of the couple kissing passionately smack dab on the cover of their issue. Later that same month, Shaki tweeted a picture of them and captioned it: "Les presento a mi sol…" which translates to "I present to you, my sunshine."
Shakira pregnant? There were rumors that the "Hips Don't Lie" singer was with Piqué's child during the summer of 2012, but there were continuous denials from her camp. Her father though, hinted at his daughter's pregnancy when he spoke to Honduran newspaper La Prensa and told them that he hopes she makes the news (of her pregnancy) official soon.
Shakira finally confirms her pregnancy: After months of watching Shakira's ever growing baby bump, the singer and her beau confirmed that she was pregnant in September 2012 through her website.
Baby gender revealed: Shortly after sharing the pregnancy news, Shakira announced to German channel RTL that she was having a boy during a video interview.
Rumored baby names: After learning that Shakira and Piqué were having a baby boy, the media immediately started questioning the names they had selected. Rumor had it that it was either going to be Biel or Ulises, but the couple confirmed neither name.
Gerard tricks Shakira's fans: As we were all on pins and needles awaiting the birth of Shakira's baby boy, on December 27 Piqué took to his Twitter page to announce that Shakira had given birth. Boy, was the joke on us! We later learned that it was a prank he played for that day which also happened to be El Día De los Santos Inocentes–the equivalent to April Fool's day!
Shakira giving birth on Tuesday 1/23/13: Rumors were running wild Tuesday morning after Piqué supposedly took to his Instagram account to announce that Shakira would be giving birth Tuesday, January 23, 2013 at a Barcelona hospital. Although it is reported that Gerard immediately took the post down and it may be ANOTHER joke, it has had us all on pins and needles!
