Ultrasound parties are the new rage for pregnant ladies (VIDEO)

When it comes to celebrating your pregnancy, some women are really taking things to the next level. We all know about baby showers and I'm even a big fan of the babymood (a pre-birth second honeymoon that mommy-and-daddy-to-be take), but now some women are celebrating with their friends and family in what is being called a sonogram or ultrasound party. That's when a woman actually hires an ultrasound technician and has him show off the baby growing in her belly in a party atmosphere. Um, wait, is that crazy or not?

To be honest, I've always been one of those girls that absolutely LOVED celebrating my birthday. For my 25th, I had five separate parties. For my 30th, I already know that I want to do one of those "doble quince" parties to celebrate a double quinceañera. What can I say? I just love to celebrate at big gatherings with my friends and family!

That's why, when I first read about these "ultrasound parties", I honestly kind of thought that they were a GREAT idea. I mean, I figured I'd be showing off the sonogram picture to plenty of people, so why not just have everyone gathered together for the big reveal? But then I started to read more about them and, well, began to think about our culture of over-sharing and wanting to include everyone in every aspect of our lives. Is it really right to bring people into such a private moment between you and your man?

I'm guessing that these kind of parties aren't going to be for every mother in the same way that a huge wedding with 200 people isn't for every bride. In the end, how much information you put out there (to relatives, friends, even on the internet) really depends on the kind of person you are. Me? Well, I'm clearly an over-sharer. Does that mean that I am going to have an ultrasound party one day? Maybe and maybe not. For now, I know that I will definitely want to celebrate my happy news with as many people as possible.
