I've never been a patient kind of girl. Even when I was younger, I wanted everything to happen right at that second. So as you can imagine, waiting to find out what I got for Christmas was not an easy task for me. Unfortunately, my parents made it 100 times worse by always hiding their presents in the same place….which meant that pretty much every year, without fail, I managed to find mine without ever having to look all that hard. Hey, I was a kid and they hid it in the SAME PLACE. Every. Single. Year.
If your children are as curious and impatient I was (OK, still am) and this is all starting to sound oddly familiar, don't worry! To avoid having your kids "accidentally" discover where all their gifts are this year, I've rounded up a few of the best hiding places to store Christmas presents. Read on to find out where!

- In your underwear drawer. Perfect for smaller items, like jewelry boxes, and it's pretty much guaranteed that your kids won't look there.
- In your luggage. If you're not planning on traveling anywhere over the holidays, why not use any duffel bags or suitcases as storage?
- The trunk of your car. Unless your children are of the age where they can drive (in which case, they really shouldn't be snooping for their presents anyway!), they won't think to search there.
- At work. This might not be the most suitable option if you have either a lot of gifts or very large ones, but if you have a spacious desk or your own office, it's probably the safest place possible. On that same note, if you have any very nice neighbors or friends who maybe don't have their own kids or are just willing to give up the space, you can ask them too.
- Under the tree! It might seem obvious, but even my overly curious little self wouldn't dare open a present once it was fully wrapped. It's much easier to sneak a peek when gifts are still in shopping bags, so avoid creating temptation by tying those ribbon bows and taping that wrapping paper securely!
And whatever you do, don't hide your presents in these three places:
- Under the bed. The first place any kid will look!
- Behind hanging clothes in the closet. It's waaay too easy to get to, so if you have to go for the closet, put everything on a high shelf.
- Spare room. My parent's choice! Unless it can be locked, your kids are bound to realize this is an obvious hiding spot.
