This is one of those videos you can't miss.
As a mother of two, I will tell you that this is one of the most fascinating things I have seen in a long time. It's like watching the 'Miracle of Life" before your very eyes and a testament to a woman's sheer power.
The footage shows a woman giving birth on a bus in China! At first it looks like she has a stomachache, but the security camera captures something more intense–contractions. Then her water breaks and the baby begins to come out. All we see is her searching for something between her legs. It's TRULY amazing!
Her son–sitting right next to his mom–is clearly oblivious to what is going on, and it's like most of the other of the passengers are too!
Once the baby is born, the woman begins to caress the child, with his umbilical cord still attached. She then takes out a blanket and begins to clean him like any mother would. Just to make sure the infant is properly breathing, she even holds the baby by the ankles and gives it a couple of smacks on the bum.
This video represents motherhood and bravery all at once.
It's really quick amazing to see how the birth progresses in such a natural way despite the setting. It's very different from my birth experience with a C-section involving obstetricians, anesthesiologist, and a handful of other medical experts. I just can't imagine giving birth on a bus unassisted.
I later learned that the woman is 39 years old and was on her way to the hospital to get checked out for mild contractions she was having. As you can see, this baby was more than ready to be born. What we don't see is that after the baby is born, the driver heads directly to the hospital. The little one who couldn't wait was a 7 lb. 3 oz. boy.
