The elections are over and regardless of who you were rooting for, everyone who voted can at least rest easy knowing that they did their part …especially those who went above and beyond to complete their ballots, like Chicago woman Galicia Malone. The 21-year-old went into labor, but still insisted on stopping by her polling place to vote on the way to the hospital! Talk about being a devoted citizen!
Malone's water broke at around 3 a.m. on Tuesday morning, but she didn't let that stop her from making sure her voice was heard. Malone arrived at her designated voting location at around 8:30 am–even though at that point, her contractions were five minutes apart!
When questioned about her bold decision, Malone told a local news outlet that participating in the first presidential election she is eligible to vote in made "a major difference in my life."
Isn't that amazing?! Now, that's what I call dedication. I only wish that more people had Malone's spirit. Just imagine all the progress our nation would make if everyone in it was as committed to being involved as she is.
Her unbelievable story just goes to show that when it comes to voting, there are no excuses. If a woman in labor can somehow find the time, so can everyone else–no matter how busy your life might be!
