Terrible mom arrested after abandoning young sons on side of highway

Most parents could never imagine abandoning their child, but Washington mother Shannon Marie Germantown apparently didn't feel the same way. The 27-year-old was arrested after she left her two young sons on the side of an Idaho highway.  Those poor kids!

Germantown left her 6-year-old and 3-year-old boys on the side of the 1-90 on Tuesday morning, after reportedly telling them she was going to get gas and would return later. Instead, she never went back and the children were found on a patch of grass near a construction site along the highway.

Police found Germantown (who is divorced, although its unclear if her ex-husband is the father) later that evening after someone tipped the authorities to her whereabouts. She was eventually arrested for negligent driving, but is also likely to face endangerment and abandonment charges in Idaho, where she left her children.

I can't believe anyone is capable of simply leaving their two innocent, young children on a side of a road without a second thought, let alone their own mother! Just imagine what those kids have been through and how scared and lost they must have felt. Thankfully, they were found and will hopefully be placed with people who are willing to take care of them.

As for Germantown, I just hope that she is kept far away from her sons who she so carelessly put in danger and that she gets the harsh sentencing she deserves.
