Santa Clauseand other mythical figures: Let's be honest: sometimes kids get out of line and what better way to scare to them than by threatening to tell Santa or the Tooth Fairy that they shouldn't be getting presents or money this year? Yep, you know you're guilty of doing this.

An ugly face will stay that way forever: I used to make faces all the time when my mom would ask me to do something for her. And she would always tell me if I continued crossing my eyes or scrunching up my face that it would stay that way. I believed it for awhile and if you want to scare your kids into thinking an ugly face will stay with them forever–this is the perfect go-to lie.

Your teeth will fall out if you don't brush them: Getting your kids to brush their teeth can be a hassle, but not if you scare them into thinking that they'll be toothless. Convince them that brushing is a good habit to have otherwise that third grade picture they have of themselves with the two missing front teeth will become a permanent reality.

Don't swallow gum: I've been guilty of swallowing my gum in the past, but for the longest time I believed that gum could stay in my stomach for 7 years. It was the white lie that I think lasted up until middle school because all my classmates still seemed to believe it. Get your kids to break out of this bad habit by convincing them that this sticky candy will stick to their insides for a LONG time.

If you eat too much of a certain food, you'll turn into it: You know when all your child wants is chocolate all the time? It can get annoying because they refuse to let it go. So you tell them that if they eat too much of anything whether it's candy, their obsession with ketchup, or cookies that they will become that food. And who wants to remain a ketchup blob?

Now that you know which little fibs are okay to tell your kids, use them carefully and strategically. You want to use them to get out of temporary difficult situation. Don't make a habit of it because you don't want to scare the heck out of them either!
