After Beyonce had her baby at New York's Lenox Hill hospital, several other moms-to-be filed complaints against the establishment, claiming that they were neglected because of the superstar's presence. Though the grievances were dismissed at the time, now, the hospital is again coming under fire for the same issue—and this time, it's their own staff speaking out!
Veteran nurses recently told the Daily News that the wealthy pregnant women who booked the boutique-like, $1700, full-service suites at the hospital were given better medical attention than those who use regular rooms. Why? According to them, getting one the suites basically guarantees one-on-one service from the nurses, whereas for the other rooms, a single nurse can be responsible for up to 18 babies! What?!
Though the nurses are only supposed to work with eight newborns at a time, they often end up taking care of more than a dozen, which can potentially put the baby's life in jeopardy. "It's incredibly stressful," one nurse said. "You have too many babies. You can't do all you need to do for them."

No kidding! You'd have to be Superwoman to take care of 18 babies in a crowded hospital ward all at once! Though I personally have no issue with the hospital offering 'luxury' rooms to those who can afford it, I do have a BIG problem with the fact that they seem to be cutting corners when it comes to hiring enough staff.
If the hospital wants to be able to offer one-on-one service to clientele who are willing to pay for it, fine…but that in no way means that they should be doing so at the expense of other patients and their children. Why not just hire more nurses that specifically service the suites, instead of pulling them away from the general public on other floors? Catering to one set of moms over another is not only unfair on the part of the hospital, but also downright irresponsible.
