A year after Dallas mom Elizabeth Escalona brutally attacked her 2-year-old-daughter, justice has finally been served! Despite her attorney's best efforts to lower the severity of her punishment, the 23-year-old has been sentenced to 99 years in prison for beating her daughter so badly that the little girl went into a coma.
During a sentence hearing earlier this week, prosecutors shared the horrifying details behind Escalona's abuse, revealing that the mother apparently attacked her young daughter, Jocelyn Cedillo, after she had problems with potty training. According to police, Escalona not only violently hit Cedillo and kicked her in the stomach, but also super glued the toddler's hands to a wall. Cedillo had to be hospitalized for about a week with severe injuries that included bleeding on her brain, a fractured rib, and bruises among several others.

Personally, I'm glad that the judge didn't give her the lighter sentence that prosecutors were asking for (which was 45 years or worse, just probation) and that Escalona got the harsh punishment she deserved. What kind of horrible, twisted person does something like that to anyone, let alone their own child? Especially over something as small as potty training? That poor little girl! It makes me sick to think of all the pain and torture she's been through.
Oh and what makes the whole thing worse? Escalona has four other children, including a baby born this year! I don't even want to imagine what she could have done to them over the years or what she might have done to them in the future had she not been arrested.
Thankfully, all five children, including Cedillo, have been placed under their grandmother's care where they will remain safe, sound, and far away from their mother. And as for Escanola, well she can spend the rest of her years behind bars, thinking of what she put her poor kids through.
