My kids are way too little, but as they get older, I'm sure I'll be looking for stuff for them to do during the summer. For now, they mostly just hang out all day spending some time at the pool, the park and up in the mountains with my sister. We normally go on a family vacation and when they get old enough to be away from us for an extended period of time, they'll be spending the majority of their summers in Puerto Rico with their cousins. However, it would never ever occur to me to spend more than a few hundred dollar per child for summer camp.
But did you know there are lots of parents out there spending more than $10,000 for their children to have fun this summer?

Granted, these camps last 7-weeks, which means they cost about $1,500 per week, with some that are only one-week long almost doubling in price at $2,695. If you have that kind of money, more power to you and your child, I guess, but what can he possibly be getting at a summer camp with tuition of $10,850? Gold? Their first car? How about a semester worth of courses at a private university?
No, nothing like that. It's more like pottery, jewelry making and even rock climbing! Wow! What a treat! I'm sorry, I guess I'm just jealous because I would've killed for my parents to spend that kind of money on me so I could spend my summer doing crafts and zip-lining…

If you have that kind of money to spare, wouldn't a trip to Europe or South America be more worthwhile?
