Why I’m getting the G-rated version of ‘Go the F*ck to Sleep’ for my kids

Ah, bedtime! My favorite time of the night. It's when I finally put my children to bed and I get some much needed free time to do whatever I want… NOT! I actually hate bedtime because my husband works nights and this means I have to tame my little monsters all by myself. Arghh!!!

If you have kids, I'm sure you've been there:

"I'm super thirsty. Can I have some water?"

"Just one more book/story/song, please?"

"Un besito más…

And all I want to say is: GO THE F*CK TO SLEEP

Which is why Adam Mansbach's hilarious book by the same title continues to be such a huge hit. So many of us parents can relate to the torture of bedtime (and those who can't are probably lying). Why the hell can't our children just go the f*ck to sleep? (BTW, if you haven't heard Samuel L. Jackson narrate this book you need to do it now! Nobody better to do it than him!)

Well now, Mansbach has come out with the G-rated version of his awesome book. This one is called Seriously, Just Go to Sleep and it's totally intended for little ones since it doesn't include all the f-bombs. But the best part is that it still keeps the vibe of the original grownup version. Check it out:

All the kids from preschool are in dreamland.
The froggie has made his last leap.
No way, you can't go to the bathroom.
Guess where you can go, my darling? To sleep.

I don't read to my children in English, but I'm seriously thinking the time has come for me to make an exception and buy this book. I'm sick and tired of the bedtime struggle, of the whining, of the ridiculous requests, but mostly I'm done with my having to implore them to fall asleep. Maybe this book will help them realize that I just want them to go the f*ck to sleep!

How is bedtime in your house?
