After finally confirming her pregnancy and engagement to boyfriend Jionni Lavalle, Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi is now celebrating the momentous occasion! Friends and family surprised the couple with an engagement party last night in New Jersey.
Snooki's best friend and Jersey Shore co-star, Jenni 'JWoww' Farley and her fiancé Roger Matthews attended, reportedly bringing with them a large box of an unknown substance. A cake maybe? A leopard print baby blanket? Intriguing! Snooki's parents, Andy and Helen Polizzi, were also there with a bouquet, gifts, and balloons that read "Congratulations!" Their presence must have been especially important to her since her dad's initial reaction to her pregnancy was a negative one.

"My dad was upset. He said, 'You have your whole life ahead of you,' Snooki told Us Weekly. "He came around eventually, and now he can't wait for the baby. My mom is so happy for me."
Snooki also revealed that her wedding won't be for at least another year, since she wants to have time to shed any gained pregnancy weight. Her baby is due late summer.

I'm glad that Snooki can count on support from her relatives and friends, since she sure isn't getting much encouragement from the public. In fact, people (including celebrities!) are having a field day making fun of the star, even taking to Twitter to express their (skeptical) thoughts on her soon-to-be mommyhood. I say if you're spending that much time criticizing someone else's pregnancy, you probably need to find a hobby. Becoming a parent changes everyone and I think Snooki will be no exception.
