For me, there hasn't been a greater testament of the miracle of life than bringing three healthy babies into the world. I remember feeling an overwhelming sense of hope as I saw my belly grow during each pregnancy. I knew that what was within was precious cargo, and was fascinated by the changes that my unborn child was experiencing. The medical visits revealed a great deal about the reality of it all–from the heartbeats, to the sonograms–and just knowing that soon I would be holding my baby… Very exciting!
That's why this video brought a flood of memories back to me from those special times in my life. It documents the passage of time with a clear visual reminder of what pregnancy is all about, and left me secretly wondering if I might just want to ever consider getting pregnant again…
Each one of my three pregnancies was special in its own way–more of the morning sickness in one, greater weight gain in another, and a huge belly for the last one (people stopped me wondering if I was expecting twins!). All of those memories are kept safe in notes I scribbled down, printouts of sonograms and one or two photos of me proudly showing off my belly.

Recording baby's heartbeat, pictures, memories… documenting a pregnancy is one of those things that pays off later on when nostalgia hits, or when the child is finally old enough to see "when you were in mommy's belly." That's why the video below caught my attention and I had to share it with you. What a great way to capture the miracle that unfolds during a pregnancy, plus, the dad's face is priceless!!
I might not be planning another baby (little sad face here as I come to terms with this truth), but you can get inspired to get your video camera out. Time to document your pregnancy and if not that baby's first year. Why not?!
