Time magazine's Person of the Year for 2023 is Taylor Swift! Oh, and get this: This isn’t even her first time being honored. She was also named Person of the Year in 2017. This now makes her the first woman to receive the honor twice since Time began the Person of the Year tradition in 1927. There are many reasons why Taylor was named Person of the Year and none of them have to do with who she is dating: Kansas City Chiefs football player Travis Kelce. Still, his name did come up in her Time interview.

It’s kind of a big deal that she brought him up because this marks the first time that she's publicly discussed her relationship with him. And she doesn’t just confirm that they are all into each other, she actually clarifies the timeline of their romance. So, what did she say? Read on!
FYI, they had been dating for a while before she was spotted at one of his games.
Taylor was first seen watching Travis play football on September 24 and people jumped to conclusions and assumptions were made that it was a first date. But nope, that’s not what happened.
See, what had happened was…
"This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” Taylor told Time. "We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other."
That game was their public ‘hard launch’ so to speak.
"By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date," she continued.
They are 'showing up for each other.'
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” she told added.
Consider the alternative.
“The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other,” Taylor explained.
How does she feel about the constant attention she gets at his football games?
“I don’t know how they know what suite I’m in,” she said. “There’s a camera, like, a half-mile away, and you don’t know where it is, and you have no idea when the camera is putting you in the broadcast, so I don’t know if I’m being shown 17 times or once.”
Why does she go to the games?
“I’m just there to support Travis,” she explained. “I have no awareness of if I’m being shown too much and p—ing off a few dads, Brads, and Chads.” Give her a break dads, Brads, and Chads, she’s just there to support her man.
Does she even like football?
“Football is awesome, it turns out,” Taylor declared. “I’ve been missing out my whole life.” And not for nothing, her enthusiasm for football is getting a lot of her fans to tune in at least to the games she attends.
As for Travis, he’s already publicly gushed about Taylor.
"I've never been a man of words. Being around her, seeing how smart Taylor is, has been [expletive] mind-blowing. I'm learning every day,” he told WSJ Magazine.
Together, they might just be the couple of the year.
Taylor Swift may be the Person of the Year according to Time, but Travis has had a pretty phenomenal year himself and since they started dating this year, wouldn’t that make them the Couple of the Year? Absolutely!
