The chicest spring nail polish colors to try this season

The weather is warming up and I want to celebrate. In years past, I might have taken myself on a shopping spree that was really not in my budget. But this year, what with the price of eggs and everything else skyrocketing, I’m being much more careful with my money. Quick, somebody go tell my mami that I’m being all fiscally responsible and stuff.

Speaking of my mami, who is one of the most stylish Latinas you could ever hope to meet, she taught me that buying a bottle of nail polish is an affordable and accessible way to treat yourself to something that brings you joy and gives your overall look a fun refresh.

My mission and yours, if you choose to accept, is to get rid of any dried-up nail polishes that are collecting dust and replace them with some of the fantastic shades below.

Pinky Promise by Lights Lacquer

It’s pink, it’s sheer and it has the finest most shimmery finish ever. The shade is coy but flirty, and it goes with everything. It’s the kind of color you might want to wear on your toes forever and ever so that every time you look down, you’re like “Oh, my Gatos, my toes are just too cute!”

Sheer Yellow Drama by Diosa

What does this shade of sheer yellow remind you of? A yellow highlighter! No need to use a highlighter to achieve a highlighted nail look. Just swipe some of this Diosa polish on and be the highlight of everyone’s day.

Bright & Focused by Olive and June

Is it me or does this shade of yellow look like a ray of sunlight and a creamsicle fell in love? One reviewer says, “This is the color to reach for when you need a shot of sunshine in a bottle.” No kidding! Also, it has a gel-like finish, but does not require a lamp.

Get in Lime by OPI

This color is not going to appeal to everyone and that’s part of its charm. It’s not trying to blend in or be a people pleaser. It’s sweet for some and sour for others. And it looks perfect if you’re holding a margarita in your hand.

Bettina in Dream Catcher

Lavender nail enamel that is pocketbook friendly and so, so dreamy. It’s like the lavender version of a baby pink. Oh, and if you aren’t familiar with Bettina Cosmetics, it is the largest selling line of nail polishes in Puerto Rico.

She’s a Rocket by Deborah Lippmann

She's a Rocket by Deborah Lippman

This color is out of this world spectacular! It dries to a glossy finish and gives you the cushion of a gel mani without any of the damage. Oh, and it’s even got silk fibers—yup, the kind made by silkworms—to give nails a smooth finish.

Pistache by Ella + Mila

I am loving the barely there pastel shades this season like this one that is reminiscent of a pistachio macaron. The pale green color dries to a glossy shine and you don’t even need to use a base coat with it.

Pampas Beige by Londontown

I have never ever been a fan of beige anything until now. This Pampas Beige color is part of the Nude Mood Lakur Enhanced Colour Nail Lacquer Collection and it makes me want to lay on a warm beach with sand that is the same shade as the polish.

Astral Aura by Essie

An astral aura is said to be a kind of energy field that surrounds a person’s body. The color of that field is believed to be a reflection of the emotional/mental/spiritual state of that person. This color is clearly one of joy and enthusiasm.

Bikini So Teeny by Essie

The name of this color cracks me up, but how cute would a teeny bikini in this color be?! So cute, especially if you have the matching nail polish on. With a bikini or not, this shade is refreshing and fun.

Mystic Marine by Essie

You can wear this color on its own or layer it on top of another color to add a turquoise pearl effect with a red chrome finish. It kind of gives a shimmery mermaid treatment to other more creamy colors.

Extra Credit by Dazzle Dry

The saying “the grass is always greener on the other side,” is not a thing you will say if you are wearing this gorgeous shade of green on your nails. You won’t have time to look at anyone else’s grass because you’ll be too busy admiring your nails.

Dotty by JINSoon

Use this nail polish as a reminder that not only do you belong in every single room you walk into—imposter syndrome be damned—everyone already in the room should be throwing confetti upon your arrival because they are so lucky to have you and your perspective there.

Radiant Neon Peach by ILNP

This color is fabulously fruity and radiates warmth. It’s the perfect combination of pink, orange, and cream. It reminds you to sit a spell and soak up every moment of joy that comes your way.

Good as Gold by Essie

This isn’t your traditional yellowish metallic gold. It’s more of a subtle champagne kind of gold. It glitters and is golden, but depending on how the light hits it, it can also look more silver than gold.
