There's no escaping it, really. If you're a celebrity and you're photographed with another star, fans are going to speculate. Stars have likely grown accustomed to rampant romance rumors every time they're single and in the same vicinity of another high-profile person. However, Shakira has recently been spotted with Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton for a second time in a short span of time—and her fans definitely suspect they're dating (and they seem to approve!)
More from MamásLatinas: A breakdown of Shakira's love life before Gerard Piqué
The "Whenever, Wherever" singer ended her long-term relationship with Gerard Piqué in June 2022. Meanwhile, Lewis has been rumored to be linked to celebs such as Nicki Minaj, Sofia Richie, Kendall Jenner, Winnie Harlow, and Rihanna in the past. So is there any truth to the speculation that Shakira and Lewis are a couple? Let's take a closer look at the evidence.
A photo from Shakira's second 'date' with Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton started circulating in June 2023.
On June 4, 2023, Shakira and Lewis were photographed with friends out to dinner in Barcelona, Spain—prompting folks to wonder if their relationship was more than platonic. A photo of the group showed the singer and driver—along with musician Mustafa the Poet, Fai Khadra (who is one of Kendall Jenner's friends) and others—smiling while sitting at a table, Page Six reported. It was reportedly a celebratory meal in honor of Lewis finishing in second place at the Spanish Grand Prix that day.
Notably, Lewis had his arm wrapped around Shakira's waist in the snap, which Mustafa shared to his Instagram Stories.
Is Shakira dating Lewis Hamilton? Fans definitely approve!
Overall, Shakira's fans seem to approve of the reported new pairing. One Twitter user wrote, "No, I will not stop with this image. Like, WDYM Lewis Hamilton and Shakira in the same place. IDC ab dating rumours, I'm getting my 9-year-old dream combo."
Another person tweeted, "Sir Lewis Hamilton is a whole Shakira stan, and now he's dating the Queen of Latin Music, yup we have the power couple of 2023."
Yet another Twitter user gave their stamp of approval, declaring, "Shakira the queen of Lelololelole is dating the legend of F1 Lewis Hamilton … that's ladies and gentlemen the meaning of leveling up! Way to go queen. "
Shakira's first date with Lewis went down in May 2023.
It was on May 10 when Shakira was initially photographed with Lewis. Following the Formula One Grand Prix, their "first date" took place on a yacht in Miami with friends after sharing a meal at Cipriani restaurant, People magazine reported. Shakira sported a flowing lavender outfit while the Lewis was wearing swim trunks for the occasion.
She's been romantically linked to more than one famous man in recent months.
Lewis isn't the only man Shakira has been romantically linked to in recent months. The "Hips Don't Lie' singer was photographed with Tom Cruise at the Formula One Grand Prix on May 7 in Miami. Fans of both celebrities lost their minds when a photo of the pair started circulating. “[Cruise] is extremely interested in pursuing [Shakira],” a source told Page Six, adding fuel to the flames. The source also claimed that “there is chemistry" between the two.
Shakira split from her partner of 12 years, Gerard Piqué, in June 2022.
In June 2022, Shakira and her partner of 12 years, Gerard Piqué, announced their split. The couple share two children, Sasha Piqué and Milan Piqué, and had been together since 2011. “We regret to confirm that we are separating," Shakira and Gerard said in a joint statement. "For the well-being of our children, who are our highest priority, we ask that you respect our privacy. Thank you for your understanding.”
She proceeded to write a diss track about Gerard's reported cheating.
Shakira went on to release a song in February 2023 titled "TQG," which called out Gerard's alleged cheating. (She also called out his girlfriend by name. Yikes!) Regardless of who Shakira may or may not be dating now, he'd better not cross the mega star—unless they want to earn their very own diss track, that is.
