When Barack Obama took office as the 44th president of the United States of America in January 2009, he brought two young daughters to the White House. His and Michelle Obama's girls, Malia and Sasha, were only 10 and 7, respectively.

By the time Barack finished his second term as POTUS in 2017, his daughters were 18 and 15. Malia and Sasha have since graduated from college and embarked on life as adults. And in a recent photo that Michelle posted for Sasha's birthday, the younger Obama daughter looked practically unrecognizable.
Sasha Obama celebrated her 23rd birthday on June 10.
On June 10, Sasha turned 23, and her doting dad took to Instagram to celebrate her big day. "Happy birthday, Sasha!" Barack, 62, captioned a photo of himself and a much younger Sasha sitting together in the grass. "It’s been such a joy to watch you make your own way in the world…and you’re just getting started!"
Michelle shared a more current photo of Sasha.
While Barack went for the nostalgic angle with his birthday post, Michelle posted a more recent picture of their daughter via Instagram. "Happy birthday, Sasha! You make me so incredibly proud," the former first lady, 60, wrote. "Hope this year brings you everything you want and more. Love you. ."
In the comments, Instagram users couldn't get over how different Sasha looked.
In the snap, Michelle wore a black dress while Sasha rocked a multicolored dress while smiling and hugging her mom with her eyes closed. The newly minted 23-year-old looked so grown-up that she was nearly unrecognizable.
"Ommggggg look at the grown woman she morphed into ," one Instagram user declared."
Another person commented: "I'm stuck on watching her grow up in front of my eyes!!!!! beautiful inside and out!!! Birthday blessings Sasha!!!!!❤️ ."
Yet another Instagram user shared: "Sasha all grown up and so beautiful. It’s so amazing to see her from a young girl to young woman."
She graduated from college in 2023.
In May 2023, Sasha graduated from the University of Southern California. She earned a degree in sociology after transferring from the University of Michigan, where she studied psychology. Barack, Michelle, and Malia all attended the commencement ceremony, the Los Angeles Times reported.
What is Sasha Obama doing now?
When Sasha transferred to USC, she moved in with her older sister, Malia. They are presumably still living together today. Although details about what Sasha has been doing since graduating from college are sparse, she was seemingly credited as a casting interviewer under her full name, Natasha Obama, for the Showtime series Couples Therapy, per The Cut.
Meanwhile, her sister Malia has worked as a director and writer.
After graduating from Harvard with a degree in visual and environmental studies, Malia embarked on a career in entertainment media. She has worked as a staff writer on the Amazon Prime show Swarm. Additionally, Malia wrote and directed the short film The Heart.
