SAG Awards 2025: The most memorable red carpet looks

The 31st SAG Awards where held on Sunday, February 23, at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and broadcast live via Netflix. As is the custom with awards shows, there was a pre-show red carpet event — although the carpet was blue. The SAG Awards red carpet featured celebrities dressed in designer clothing so that us mere mortals can gape, marvel, and opine on what the glitterati are wearing.

I always enjoy a good red carpet fashion parade, so of course I tuned in to see what everyone was wearing, and now I’m ready to dish. I’m not the kind of person who thinks we’re all supposed to agree on fashion choices, so I’m not going to tell you what you should think or who was the “best” or “worst” dressed. Instead, I want to share what I thought some of the most memorable looks of the evening were with a little commentary and then you can decide whether it was a win, a fail, or a meh moment. Let’s get into it!

Pamela Anderson wore Dior.

Pamela Anderson showed up looking like a Grecian goddess turned movie star. Her one-shouldered gown in a creamy white was long and elegant. If she was wearing any makeup at all on her glowing skin, it was undetectable. Her hair was styled neatly in a nod to the Golden Age of Hollywood with loose waves and not a hair out of place.

Fran Drescher rewore a pink suit.

Fran Drescher, the president of SAG-AFTRA, wore a double-breasted pink suit that she’s worn before. Kudos to her for reminding us all that clothes are meant to be worn more than once. She previously wore the suit in 2022 to the Directors Guild of America Awards.

Selena Gomez wore Celine.

Selena Gomez was all elegance and grace in a midnight blue satin gown. The color was so rich and dark. The deep blue seemed to change depending on the light. Selena wore a red lip that was the cherry on top. She looked divine.

Kerry Washington wore Armani Privé.

Who needs to sip on champagne when Kerry Washington is walking around looking all effervescent in a custom Giorgio Armani Privè gown covered in pearls? I’d rather sip on the sight of her and not get tipsy, but you do you.

Kristen Bell wore Armani Privé.

Kristen Bell did a great job hosting the awards. Before slipping into her host duties, she appeared on the red carpet in a tiered strapless Armani Privé dress. The dress featured a corseted bodice, black lace, and multicolored patterned fabric throughout.

Úrsula Corberó wore Loewe.

The Spanish actress wore a dress from the Spanish luxury brand Loewe. Hers was one of the few minidresses on the red carpet. Her white dress was cut to exaggerate the hip, which added interest to the overall silhouette.

Jaimie Lee Curtis wore Dolce & Gabbana.

Hello, statement piece! I don’t think anyone could have worn this feathered frock with more confidence and presence than Jaimie Lee Curtis. The way she held her head and moved in this dress was mesmerizing.

Ali Ahn wore Ashi Studio.

The dress that The Diplomat actress wore was a true work of art in my opinion. It has so many things going on and yet they all come together in such a pleasing manner. For starters, it is asymmetrical around the shoulders and only has one sleeve. Then there’s the molded bodice with peplum detail and it ends with a pleated skirt cascading underneath.

Lisa Ann Walter wore Greta Constantine.

The Abbot Elementary star looked fantastic in a strapless black gown that she paired with a long effervescent pink satin topper. I have to say that this is by far my favorite look that she has worn on a “red” carpet of late.

Zoe Saldaña wore Saint Laurent.

Zoe Saldaña wore a black gown that was so much more than the sum of its parts. The asymmetrical design featured a single sleeve with an embellished ruffle popping out of it that wrapped around the actresses upper arm, making a dramatic statement.

Timothée Chalamet wore Chrome Hearts.

Timothée Chalamet chose an outfit inspired by Bob Dylan, whom he played in A Complete Unknown. He wore a leather suit with a shirt in a headache-inducing shade of neon green and bolero tie. It was a little costumey and too on the nose, but whatever. He isn’t shy about his fashion choices, and that’s great.

Ariana Grande wore Loewe.

The Wicked actress wore a light pink off-the-shoulder gown with a delicate train. Her bodice was covered in floral appliqués that were also sprinkled throughout the rest of the gown for cohesion. The shoulders featured a kind of curtain-esque draping.

Colman Domingo wore Valentino.

I am such a fan of Colman Domingo’s work and style. His attention to detail is impeccable. Upon first glance, the Oscar-nominated actor’s attire for this event looks simple. But pay closer attention and you’ll notice he’s wearing a patterned fringed scarf on the inside of  his jacket that adds interest. Then pan down to his shoes and you will see that they are adorned with elegant bows.

Edgar Ramirez wore Saint Laurent.

Edgar Ramirez was there to support his fellow Emilia Pérez castmates. He opted for a grey double-breasted suit with wide baggy pant legs. The pants kind of puddled around his shoes in a “is it on purpose or on accident” kind of way.

Jeremy Strong wore green on green.

I have no idea who designed the suit that Jeremy Strong wore to the SAG Awards. The green on green suit featured a jacket that tied below the lapels instead of buttoning. It’s one of those looks that is divisive, but I absolutely love it. It’s interesting and innovative.

Anna Sawai wore Armani Privé.

I saw pictures of the Shōgun star’s dress and thought it was lovely, but then I saw it in action at the actual ceremony and was wowed by it. The red part had a stunning shine that photographs can’t capture and the way it kept its shape while she moved was something to see.

Lily Singh wore dramatic shoulders.

Lily Singh interviewed guests as part of the pre-show red carpet coverage. Her black gown featured powerful and ornate shoulders and a silver zipper that went from mid-thigh up to the neckline. The whole thing was kind of a modern take on ’80s Dynasty-style gowns.

Gillian Anderson wore Carolina Herrera.

I loved the tea-length gown that Gillian Anderson wore. I found it fun, whimsical, and elegant. It made me want to have an occasion to wear something similar. She wore her hair in an unfussy updo that showed off her neck and shoulders to perfection.

Cynthia Erivo wore Givenchy Haute Couture.

I saw lots of negative chatter about this dress online. I don’t love it, but I also don’t hate it and I think it makes sense for Cynthia Erivo. She is a fashion risk-taker and makes bold choices. That she can wear a dress like this instead of having the dress wear her is pretty impressive.

Danielle Deadwyler wore Louis Vuitton.

The Piano Lesson actress wore my favorite look of the evening. I’m sure plenty of people hated it because it’s very out of the ordinary, but that’s exactly why I love it. I love the bright red and the kind of lampshade vibe of it.

Keri Russell wore Zuhair Murad.

If you’ve watched The Diplomat, then you know Keri Russell chose a dress that is nothing like what her character, Kate, would wear on the show. Her character would have looked completely uncomfortable and slightly disheveled in Zuhair Murad gown, whereas Keri slayed.

Demi Moore wore Bottega Veneta.

It’s hard to tell from some angles, but the gown that Demi Moore wore had quite the architectural flair. It was a strapless black-on-black dress that seemed to be stacked in tiers like a cake, but in a much more elegant fashion. It was deceptively simple and obviously exquisite.

Liza Colón-Zayas wore Christian Siriano.

Liza Colón-Zayas chose a deep blue satin gown with ruching. The gown dipped on one side to show off her shoulder. It fit her perfectly. But I have to say, my favorite part of her whole look was that gorgeous smile of hers. She looked like she was fully present and enjoying the moment. So happy to see her getting praise for her talent. She is so natural on The Bear that you forget she isn’t the character she plays.

Nicola Coughlan wore Dior Haute Couture.

The color of Nicola’s gown was a bit washed out for my taste. It’s giving Sensodyne toothpaste. Not my favorite shade of green, but I do appreciate the shape and cut of the gown. The Bridgerton actress is lovely and the fit of the dress is beautiful on her, but I think it would have been so much better in a bright, much more vibrant color.

Brooke Shields wore a slinky metallic dress.

Disco balls everywhere were jealous of how sleek and dazzling Brooke Shields looked in the mirrored gown she wore to the SAG Awards. The silver column gown grazed the ground and you could just barely see the tips of her silver shoes peeking out from below.

Jeremy Allen White wore Louis Vuitton.

Jeremy Allen White has a way of wearing a suit and looking relaxed in it. Just look at him. He looks as comfy as he does wearing a T-shirt and jeans. That’s not something very many people can do.

Jane Fonda wore Armani.

The legendary actress and activist was honored at the ceremony with a Life Achievement Award. She wore a custom Armani gown in a nude shade that was adorned what looks like squiggly worms across the top and smaller squiggly worms on the skirt.

Zoe Deschanel wore black and white.

Some people have a signature style. Zoe Deschanel is one of those people. Dressed up or down, she leans deep into cute, adorable, and slightly dorky—in a good way. Her gown for the evening was an a-dork-able take on a classic tuxedo. Very cute!

Gia Coppola wore Valentino.

Gia Coppola directed The Last Showgirl starring Pamela Anderson and Jaimie Lee Curtis, who were both nominated for SAG Awards for their work in the film. If I had to categorize Gia’s dress, I would say that it was elegant Victorian prairie core.

Monica Barbaro wore Dior.

The A Complete Unknown actress wore a halter style gown with a plunging neckline in a sizzling shade of red. She kept her hair and jewelry elegant and simple, but not boring. The diamond cuff she had wrapping around her wrist was in the shape of a snake.
