Prince William & Kate Middleton share never before seen photo on 13th wedding anniversary

Prince William and Kate Middleton marked their 13th wedding anniversary by sharing a never before seen wedding picture on their joint Instagram account. The black-and-white picture features the Prince and Princess of Wales smiling from ear to ear on April 29, 2011, the day they were married. A lot has happened for the royal couple since then. Some if it has been great, like the birth of their three children: son George in 2013, daughter Charlotte in 2015, and son Louis in 2018.

But even royals don’t get to live fairy tale lives. Recently, Kate revealed that after a planned abdominal surgery she had in January, tests found cancer and she opted to undergo preventive chemotherapy treatment. Because of that, she’s been forgoing public appearances and has asked for privacy for herself and her family.

Time is precious and stops for no one. Birthdays, like her son Louis', and anniversaries still happen and they should most definitely be acknowledged and celebrated. Here’s how William and Kate commemorated their special day 13 years ago. We’ve also included how they’ve publicly acknowledged their wedding anniversary in years past

Behold the never before seen photo.

The black-and-white photo features Prince William standing behind his bride with his hands resting on her hips. The photo is captioned: "13 years ago today!" They both look so happy in the photo. In years past, they've shared other pictures to celebrate their union.

The photo they shared on their 12th anniversary is much more casual.

You could almost mistake them for non-royals. They are both wearing jeans and out on a bike ride. William is wearing a pair of sunglasses and Kate has hers propped up like a headband so we can see her eyes.

For their 11th wedding anniversary, they did a reshare.

In 2022, William was focused on the floods happening in Australia and perhaps felt that it wouldn't be appropriate to post an anniversary photo at the time. But, the couple did reshare a post made by Westminster Abbey, where they were wed, wishing them a happy anniversary.

They marked their 10th anniversary with three posts on social media.

They posted two pictures of themselves looking like a very happy couple the day before their actual anniversary. One, showing the couple dressed in blue and sitting on a tree branch, is captioned: "10 years ‍♀️ ‍♂️."

Another picture, shared on the same day, features them in each other's arms standing in front of Kensington Palace. The caption reads: "Taken this week ahead of The Duke and Duchess’ 10th wedding anniversary."

On the actual day of their anniversary in 2021, they shared a sweet video of them having fun with their kids as a thank you for all the well wishes received. "Thank you to everyone for the kind messages on our wedding anniversary. We are enormously grateful for the 10 years of support we have received in our lives as a family. W & C," they shared in the caption.

They shared a single throwback for their ninth anniversary.

The caption on their post for their ninth wedding anniversary reads: " Nine years ago today – thank you for all your lovely messages on The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding anniversary!"

The shared a quick thank you for their eighth anniversary alongside a carousel of images from their wedding day. The caption reads: " 8 years ago today — thank you for your lovely messages on The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding anniversary! PA"

They kind of skipped posting on their seventh anniversary.

It was for a very good reason, though. Prince Louis, the couple's third child, was born just a few days before their anniversary. They kind of had their hands full at the time.

For their sixth anniversary celebration, they posted a single photo accompanied by the following caption: "Thank you so much for all the lovely messages wishing The Duke and Duchess a happy sixth wedding anniversary. PA."

They posted two photos for their fifth.

The first one showed them at the altar on their wedding day. The caption reads: "This was our most viewed photograph on Flickr on the day of the Royal wedding in 2011: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge kneel at the altar in Westminster Abbey during their wedding ceremony. © Press Association"

The second photo they shared is captioned: "This was our second most popular photograph from the wedding day: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with the bride's father Michael Middleton. © Press Association"

They skipped posting on their fourth anniversary.

We're thinking that was because Kate was heavily pregnant at the time with Princess Charlotte and gave birth just a few days after their anniversary. Funny how two of their kids, Charlotte and Louis, were born so close to their wedding anniversary.

We wish them a happy anniversary and many more.

Princess Kate shocked everyone when she shared her cancer story. It's a reminder that every day is a gift that should not be taken for granted. We wish her good health and hope that she is around to celebrate many, many more anniversaries.

Cheers to William and Kate!

And to their beautiful family. My heart breaks for their children who must be so worried about their mother. May they all get to celebrate many more special occasions together and spend as many days together as possible.
