Paris Hilton celebrates son first birthday with epic underwater-themed party

Do you remember your first birthday? No? Neither do I and neither will Paris Hilton and Carter Reum’s son Phoenix, but that did not stop the ever-social socialite from throwing an unforgettable—for the adults at least—first birthday party for her little tyke over the weekend. The pictures and videos that Paris shared of the underwater-themed bash are not to be missed.

More from MamásLatinas: Paris Hilton's never-before-seen photos of son Phoenix on his 1st birthday are precious

Phoenix was born via surrogate on January 16, 2023, but pretty much no one knew about it until Paris shared the news of her son’s birth via social media on January 24. How she managed to keep such a big secret is pretty impressive. You know what else is impressive? The birthday party she threw him in honor of his first year of life. See for yourself.

What was the exact theme of the party?

@parishilton What does everyone think of my “Sliving Under The Sea” theme for Phoenix 1st Birthday party? ✨ ✨ #SlivingMom ♬ The Little Mermaid (Marimba Remix) - Harry Goes Boom!

Because you know there had to be a theme! It was “Sliving Under the Sea.” And just in case you aren’t fluent in Paris-speak, “sliving” is a combination of the words slaying and living. You’ve got to hand it to Paris for creating the term because when you are as busy slaying and living as her son is, why use two words when you can use one?

The party even had a hashtag.

Pearly decorations where emblazoned with “#slivingmom” in white and pink lettering. OK, Paris, we see you sliving that mom life and we’re not mad. Enjoy every second of it because it is precious.

Paris dressed for the occasion.

She wore a light blue puff-sleeved gown with a star tiara and star necklace that gave her an aquatic princess vibe. Her hair was loose and framed her smiling face. She looked like she could star in her own Disney movie.

Phoenix kept things casual.

Phoenix looked dandy in a white Fendi shirt with a brown and beige collar. His pants and hat picked up on the beige in the shirt’s collar. At one point he had on a pair of white framed sunglasses that added a cool edge to his whole look.

Of course, the decorations were on point.

There was a sea of different shades of blue balloons with pops of color and fish floating overhead to give guests the sensation that they were indeed attending an underwater party.

Paris gave credit to those responsible for the elaborate decorations.

Paris made sure to thank the people at @balloonandpaper for bringing her “'Sliving Under The Sea' theme to life.” They deserve the shoutout as they did a spectacular job at creating the themed atmosphere.

There was even a giant whale.

How cool is that?! Even if Phoenix won’t remember that his first birthday party featured a floating whale, I’m sure that he was delighted by it in the moment. I bet the other kids at the party loved it, too.

At one point, Paris and Phoenix went for a swim.

Well, not a real swim. They faux swam in a pool of balls at the bottom of a double slide. They both looked very happy and Phoenix made the cutest happy baby noises. He was definitely sliving for the moment.

Speaking of guests, who was at the party?

Well, we know Lance Bass was there presumably with both of his children. The NSYNC alum shares twins Alexander James and Violet Betty with husband Michael Turchin. The twins were born in 2021 and must have had a great time at the party.

Kelly Osbourne was also there with her son.

Kelly also has a 1-year-old son, Sidney. Sidney, who Kelly shares with her boyfriend musician Sid Wilson, turned 1 in November 2023. Aww, maybe he and Phoenix will get to spend a lot of time together as they grow up and form a lifelong friendship.

Oh, and there were some off-theme elements included.

Like a petting zoo that had land animals on hand to pet. I call it "off-theme" because these animals clearly don't exist under the sea, but I'm sure the kids didn't mind. No one wants to pet a jellyfish anyway.

A unicorn even made an appearance.

OK, now Paris is just showing off! A unicorn! She got a unicorn to show up to an under the sea party. That's unheard of, as far as I know, but Paris is known for throwing epic parties, so she made it happen.

Paris shared the sweetest tribute to her son.

On his actual birthday, January 16, Paris shared the following tribute to her son on Instagram:

“One year ago, a beautiful angel baby entered our lives, bringing so much love and happiness ✨ My precious little one, you are more than a dream come true. You make my life complete Every day with you is a priceless gift, and I’m endlessly grateful to be your mommy. Celebrating your first of many birthdays, Baby P – here’s to a lifetime of laughter, love, and wonderful adventures with our cutesie crew! ✨ Happy 1st Birthday! “

Phoenix better get used to a lifetime of amazing parties.

"I've thrown amazing birthday parties my whole life," Paris said in a TikTok video. "So, now to be able to do this for my little boy is just such a special memory."

And let's not forget Paris also has a daughter.

Less than a year after her son was born, Paris announced the arrival of her daughter London via surrogate in November 2023. You know what that means, right? It means there's going to be another epic birthday party coming up. Can't wait to see what she comes up with for her daughter's first birthday party.
