Lupillo Rivera's relationship with Belinda, which lasted just over six months, is in the news again as Lupillo delves more into the media frenzy that was that short-lived connection. Jenni Rivera's brother, who is currently promoting his book Tragos Amargos, opened up in an interview with Luis Sandoval on his podcast Buena Vibra and he talked about the relationship, their plans (for twins!!), and how things ended. Hint: pretty badly!
During their conversation, El Toro del Corrido, as he's also called, explained that Beli and him had big plans together, including having children. But there was one detail that caused everything between them to fall apart.
Despite the 17-year age difference between them, Lupillo Rivera admitted in his book Tragos Amargos that he and Belinda were planning to take their relationship to the next level and have children together, a statement he repeated during his chat with Luis Sandoval. "You talked to her about the possibility of having twins. On page 300: 'The idea came from her. Belinda agreed. I was going to give my little seed a chance …', which you had frozen because you had a vasectomy," Luis Sandoval read the excerpt from his book, as Lupillo could only smile and didn't say much, which sort of said it all.
The relationship between Beli and Lupillo was so serious that Belinda even met and interacted with his daughters, and Lupillo said that Beli got along very well with Lupita. "She and Lupita connected very well. One time, I found them outside, eating cereal and milk in the early hours of the morning," said the norteño singer as he recalled that anecdote.
The end came suddenly.
Just when everything seemed to be going great between them, Lupillo shared that it all fell apart because of a photo published by Univision morning show Despierta América, which showed Belinda with another man, even though she was still in a relationship with the singer at the time.
"For me, it was over immediately, from one moment to the next. I told her, 'You know what? No problem. Go for it and God bless you,'" he said candidly about his reaction when he saw the photo of Belinda on a plane, asleep on another man's shoulder.
Although their relationship lasted only seven months and ended the way it did, this hasn't stopped Lupillo from looking back with fondness at his time with the Spanish singer. In fact, he still remembers how happy he was with Belinda and how much fun they had together after meeting in 2009 on La Voz México. "What I experienced and enjoyed was a very beautiful relationship. That's what I'll remember. I treated her with a lot of love," Lupillo confessed, who even got a tattoo in her honor on one of his arms (which he ended up removing).
Has Belinda responded?
So far, Beli has not commented on her ex's recent remarks. But he was very clear on the podcast — he said he doesn't need her or anyone else involved to confirm or deny what happened in their relationship. Lupillo insists that everything happened exactly as he described it. "Her team knew that I treated her with a lot of love. Her mom, her dad," Lupillo says about one of his most publicized romantic relationships. And in the end, he confessed that he fell in love with Belinda the moment he saw her for the first time: "It was instant."
