Naming a human can be a long, difficult process of sifting through options until one finally feels right. Sometimes, parents even wait until after their child is born to figure out a moniker that suits them best. Still others think they've got the decision nailed down to the point where they've filed a birth certificate—only to legally change the name later. When it came to Kylie Jenner naming her second child, she definitely fell into the last category.
More from MamásLatinas: A complete timeline of Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott's love story
The Kylie Cosmetics mogul and rapper Travis Scott (real name Jacques Bermon Webster II) have two children together. In February 2018, they welcomed their daughter Stormi Webster, and their second child, a son they ultimately named Aire Webster, arrived almost exactly four years later in February 2022. His original name, however, was something completely different—and Kylie and Travis have now filed the paperwork to officially change it.
Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott have legally changed their son's name.
Fans have known since March 2022 that Kylie and Travis decided to switch their son's name to Aire. But on June 26, 2023, People confirmed they've taken steps to have it legally changed. Court documents obtained by People show that Kylie and Travis filed paperwork for the name swap on June 22.
They previously named him Wolf.
The name Kylie and Travis initially chose for their son was Wolf. An original birth certificate obtained by TMZ showed "Wolf Jacques" was the moniker they decided to give their baby boy. But that name was short-lived.
Why did Kylie Jenner change her son's name?
News outlets and fans referred to the newborn as Wolf for several weeks following his birth certificate leak. That is, until Kylie revealed they decided to change it. "FYI our son's name isn't Wolf anymore," she wrote in an Instagram Story post in late March. "We just really didn't feel like it was him. Just wanted to share because I keep seeing Wolf everywhere."
Kylie changed Stormi's name at the last minute, too.
In an October 2018 video with James Charles, Kylie shared that she made a last-minute change to Stormi's name after she was born. "I was just looking at nature names, like weather, Earth inspired," she told James as he was doing her Halloween-inspired makeup. "Storm was on there, just Storm, and I was like, 'I kind of want an 'I-E' like me' — so then I did Stormie, 'I-E.'"
Kylie explained that she even had clothing and other baby items personalized with "Stormie" written on them before deciding to tweak the spelling. "When they called me from the birth certificate office and I was finalizing the name, they were like, 'How do you want to spell it?'" she said. "… Literally right then and there, I just changed it to an 'I.'"
Baby-naming regret must run in the family, because Khloé Kardashian also changed her son's name.
Kylie's older sister Khloé Kardashian, who shares two children with ex Tristan Thompson, legally changed her son's name, too. Evidently, and Khloé and Tristan were so stumped over a name that "Baby Kardashian" is what ended up on his birth certificate. They ultimately named their son Tatum Robert Thompson and like Kylie, needed to go through the process of legally changing his name.
But hey, everyone is named and thriving today—so that's all that really matters!
