Kim Kardashian faces intense backlash over wearing rosary with barely there look

The Kardashian-Jenner family is never afraid to make waves when it comes to fashion. Time and time again, the reality stars/business moguls have shocked fans with their boundary-pushing clothing choices. But recently, Kim Kardashian faced intense backlash over wearing a rosary with a barely-there look.

Kim, 44, is no stranger to controversial clothing. She was criticized for wearing Marilyn Monroe‘s iconic Jean Louis gown to the 2022 Met Gala. At the 2024 Met Gala, jaws dropped when Kim walked out in a dress with an impossibly cinched waist. And most recently, a Skims ad featuring the mom of four left fans and critics outraged.

Kim Kardashian wore a rosary in a Skims ad.

On November 22, Kim posted a carousel of four photos of herself modeling underwear items from her clothing line, Skims. The Instagram snaps showed her rocking a white bra, boxer shorts, and a pair of lace leggings. For the pictures, she accessorized with a rosary while provocatively pulling down the boxer shorts, nearly exposing everything underneath.

In the comments, plenty of followers showered her with praise.

Many of Kim’s Instagram followers complimented her look in the comments. One person wrote, “Omg 😍,” while another echoed, “Whew !!! ❄️ 😍🔥🔥🔥.”

Meanwhile, someone else declared, “Damn you’re beautiful 😍 ♥️,” and another commented, “I want a stomach like this for Christmas.”

However, many others took offense to pairing the rosary with a barely there look.

With that said, several folks were not happy that Kim wore a rosary while wearing essentially nothing. One Instagram user wrote, “Pls don’t play with the Holy Rosary.”

Another person pointed out, “The Rosary isn’t jewelry.”

Others were downright agitated by Kim’s disrespect, with one commenting: “Wearing a cross while being half naked. Wluld ypu make a mockery out of other religions too?”

Someone else demanded: “Take off that Rosary you Hollywood cult. You don’t deserve to wear something precious and holy like that.”

The backlash spilled over to other platforms.

On X (formerly Twitter), others stumbled across Kim’s latest controversial look.

One X user wrote: “They’re not jewelry, @KimKardashian. Catholics are tired of staying quiet when we’re offended, so here goes… Don’t play with us to find some air time. Learn how to pray using the Rosary beads or give them to someone who respects them.”

Another irate X user shared: “It is demonic. It involves mockering what is a representation of Christ.”

Yet another declared, “She is an embarrassment to America.”

As of writing, Kim hasn't responded to the backlash.

Kim has not publicly responded to the backlash over wearing a rosary while promoting Skims. Given that the Kardashian-Jenner family doesn’t typically issue statements amid controversy, it wouldn’t be surprising if she doesn’t.

The only information Kim provided with the photos was how to purchase the Skims items. She wrote, “The exclusive Dolce&Gabanna x SKIMS collection is almost sold out! Shop for a limited time on SKIMS.com, in SKIMS stores, and at select #DolceGabbana boutiques.”

Earlier in November, she sparked similar criticism while wearing a necklace that belonged to Princess Diana.

Earlier in November, Kim donned Princess Diana‘s diamond-lined cross pendant at the LACMA Art+Film Gala in Los Angeles. She didn’t pair the religious accessory with undergarments for the outing. However, some folks didn’t appreciate the deeply plunging dress showing off her chest that Kim wore with the necklace.
