Katy Perry isn't one to beat around the bush or shy away from addressing controversy. The "Eye of the Tiger" singer is known for speaking her mind. And recently, Katy sent a surprising message after a photo of her fiancé, Orlando Bloom, checking out Kim Kardashian's butt went viral.

To recap, Katy and Orlando met at a Golden Globes party in 2016 and started dating a couple of months later. They broke up in February 2017 before reuniting in August 2017 and confirming they were back together in August 2018. In February 2019, the "Teenage Dream" songstress and Pirates of the Caribbean star got engaged. They welcomed their daughter Daisy in August 2020.
Orlando was caught checking out Kim's ample derriere at a New York Fashion Week gala.
On September 9, a slew of celebrities attended the Kering Caring for Women Dinner that was held during New York Fashion Week. The star-studded event featured glammed-up celebrities coming together to raise nearly $3 million to help “combat gender-based violence and child abuse to disrupt the cycle of intergenerational violence.”
But a red carpet photo of Orlando seemingly checking out Kim's behind with one arm around Katy's waist stole the show.
On social media, plenty of people defended Orlando.
Fans weighed in on the incriminating photo on social media, with one X user pointing out: "Kim Kardashian’s butt is iconic. How could anyone NOT look?"
Someone else commented, "He had to see for himself what all the hype is about," while another shared, "I mean really, everyone looks at that giant butt! How could you not?"
Others questioned whether the Lord of the Rings actor was truly gazing at Kim's butt in the first place.
"I don’t know… seems like he’s looking at the floor ," one X user wrote.
Meanwhile, a different fan commented: "WTF? That photo is just one second where he might have been looking down to let her walk by. A photo like that means nothing. Not trying to defend anyone here, but this is ridiculous."
Katy, meanwhile, sent a bold message with her reaction.
During a recent appearance on Elvis Duran and the Morning Show, Perry addressed the photo.
"I mean, how could you not?" host Elvis Duran said of Orlando sneaking a look at Kim's iconic butt.
"I approve," Katy replied.
Additionally, the pop star commented on an article about the 'controversy.'
Elvis read to Katy a portion of an article about the photo. "The images captured Orlando with his hand right above Katy’s butt."
To that, Katy quipped, "It’s been other places. Sorry to tell you … My daughter is 4."
She then wondered, "So, wait, what's the controversy?"
"There is no controversy, that's my whole point," Elvis responded before asking, "Do you need more controversy?"
A defeated-looking Katy replied, "Oh just … 17 years. 17 years of this."
Another Katy-Orlando moment went viral at the VMAs.
At the MTV Video Music Awards on September 11, Katy was honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and was also among the lineup of performers. The pop star did a medley of her songs, including her new track "I’m His, He’s Mine," featuring Doechii. The rapper twerked, and both women contorted themselves in sensual positions before Katy kissed Doechii as she did back bend.
Meanwhile, the MTV broadcast suddenly cut to Orlando in the audience, who awkwardly nodded along before smiling at the camera.
On social media, fans once again went to town in the comments.
On X, one fan wrote: "Okay… Orlando Bloom’s reaction to Katy Perry shaking her butt cheeks, spreading eagle, scissoring and kissing a girl at #VMAs was pretty iconic hahaha!"
Another X user commented as if reading Orlando's thoughts, "'wait, this wasn't in the rehearsals' ."
Meanwhile, someone else declared, "ORLANDO IS GAGGED."
