Kate Middleton is prioritizing ‘what’s right for her’ amid cancer treatment & recovery

When Kate Middleton announced her cancer diagnosis in March, royal fans were shocked and worried for the Princess of Wales. The mom, who has three children with husband Prince William, had been completely absent from public since her planned abdominal surgery in mid-January. This prompted a barrage of conspiracy theories and speculation about her prolonged silence.

Rumors died down a bit after Catherine, Princess of Wales, revealed she was undergoing chemotherapy to treat her unspecified cancer. However, she continued to receive treatment and recovery privately for months, until recently re-emerging for Trooping the Colour in June.

Now, a source close to Kate's family has revealed she is prioritizing her life amid her ongoing cancer journey.

"She has been doing what’s right for her and recovering privately at home," a source close to Kate and her family recently told People. "She is dealing with it the best she can."

The Princess of Wales is 'learning how to be patient' during her cancer journey.

On June 14, Kate took to Instagram with an update on her cancer journey.

"I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty," she wrote in a lengthy message next to a new photo of herself. "Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal."

She added: "Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me."

Still, she admitted she has 'good days and bad days.'

Although Kate noted that she is "making good progress," she admitted, "there are good days and bad days."

She explained: "On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well."

Her treatment will last several more months.

Something else Kate revealed in her Instagram update was that her cancer treatment "is ongoing and will be for a few more months."

The mom of Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 9, and Prince Louis, 6, added: "On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home."

Fans were thrilled to see the Princess of Wales at Trooping the Colour, her first public appearance in six months.

On June 15, Kate appeared for an official royal event for the first time since December for King Charles III's official birthday parade. She stood alongside her family and other senior members of the royal family on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to watch the Royal Air Force flyover. Kate was also spotted watching the procession from a different balcony with her three children.

Still, don't expect her to fully return to her royal duties anytime soon.

In early June, representatives told Us Weekly of Kate's return to her public duties: “We have been really clear that [Kate] needs the space and the privacy to recover right now. She will return to work when she has had the green light from doctors.”

Another source told the publication that Kate's team is “reevaluating what she’s going to be able to take on when she comes back.” They added, “She may never come back in the role that people saw her in before.”
