Jen and Ben first dated in 2002 and quickly became the "it" couple. They got engaged that same year but broke up in early 2004. Nearly 20 years later in 2021, Bennifer rekindled their romance. They legally married in Las Vegas in July 2022 before having a second star-studded wedding the following month. Two years after saying "I do," they're calling it quits for good.
Jen is 'upset and disappointed' with Ben.
A little more than a week after J.Lo filed for divorce, a source with knowledge of the situation dished on how the "Let's Get Loud" singer is coping. "It’s really hit her hard," the source told People in an article published on August 28. "She’s very upset and disappointed with Ben."
Ben reportedly showed no interest in repairing their marriage.
An inside source previously told People on August 21 that Jennifer filed for divorce because she realized "it's time to move on."
"She's very disappointed and sad, but Ben hasn't given her any signs that he wants to continue their marriage," the insider shared. "He hasn't shown any commitment and interest in making their marriage work. It's gotten to the point that she just needs to look out for herself."
Additionally, J.Lo hates living in their Beverly Hills mansion.
The August 28 insider source also noted that Jennifer does not enjoy living in her and Ben's marital home in Beverly Hills amid their divorce. "She and Ben bought the house for the whole family," they told People. "It’s way too big for her and filled with too many memories as well."
In July, Ben and Jen publicly listed their Beverly Hills home for sale.
After failing to quietly sell the mansion off-market, Ben and Jen publicly listed their Beverly Hills home for sale on July 11. They purchased the property in 2023 for $60 million, although the listed price is $68 million. The sprawling 38,000-square-foot home features 12 bedrooms and 24 bedrooms.
Meanwhile, Ben secured a bachelor pad, and Jen offloaded her NYC condo.
On July 24, Ben reportedly closed escrow on a $20.5 million Los Angeles "bachelor pad" in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood, TMZ reported. Meanwhile, J.Lo made a big money move that same day (her 55th birthday). The "Love Don't Cost a Thing" singer finalized the sale of her New York City condo, per People.
J.Lo revealed the reason for her and Ben's divorce in her filing.
In her divorce filing, Jennifer listed her and Ben's date of separation as April 26, 2024. The reason for their divorce was "irreconcilable differences," per Page Six. J.Lo requested that spousal support be waived on both sides, as they reportedly didn't have a prenup. Additionally, she filed to have her last name restored to Lopez, as she legally changed it to Affleck when they married.
