Jennifer Lopez and Matt Damon were spotted holding hands and bonding as they sat next to each other and had what appeared to be a deep and meaningful conversation at an afterparty for their new movie at the Toronto International Film Festival. Both superstars were there to promote Unstoppable, which premiered at the festival on Friday. The reason the moment between these two feels notable is because Jen filed for divorce from Ben Affleck on August 20 and Matt just happens to be one of Ben’s longtime besties.

“Navigating mutual friendships after a divorce is super easy,” said no one ever. If you know, you know. It sucks, but when you break up with someone, you sometimes end up losing the friends that were closer to your former partner. Thankfully, that doesn’t seem to be the case with Mr. Damon and ex-Mrs. Affleck. Check it out.
What brought Jen and Matt together?
Jen plays Judy in the film Unstoppable and was at TIFF to attend the premiere. The film was produced by Artists Equity, which is owned by Matt and Ben. Ben is one of the coproducers of the film, but he did not attend the event.
Gee, I wonder why?
Could it be because it hasn’t even been a month since August 20, when J.Lo filed for divorce from her Gigli costar on the second wedding anniversary of their lavish Georgia wedding? Me thinks so, but what do I know?
During the after party J & M shared a moment.
The after party was held at Epoch Bar & Kitchen Terrace at The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto. While there, Jen was sitting at an outdoor table with Matt’s wife Luciana Damon and costar Don Cheadle. According to a source that spoke to People, Matt moseyed on over and joined the group.
That source said that “Jen and Matt began talking and had a long, deep conversation” as they held hands. The two spent over 20 minutes engaging. The source said that there was laughter between the two and also very serious conversing going on.
This was Jen’s first big public event since filing for divorce.
And my goodness gracious what an appearance she made. She wore a Tamara Ralf FW Couture gown that was giving sexy disco ball vibes. It looked like two panels of mirrored fabric held together by velvet bows on the side.
Underneath she wore absolutely nothing, and it was everything.
Check out the side view! Some are calling it a “revenge dress,” but screw that. Jen always kills on red carpets. It’s not like filing from divorce from Ben has all of a sudden amped up her style game. She’s a fashion icon. One could say her fashion sense is unstoppable.
Is it me, or does some of Jen’s best acting happen in real life?
I’m not knocking her acting. I’m praising her ability to keep it together publicly when privately her heart must be shattered. The woman is a consummate professional and workhorse. And to top it off, she shows up looking like a dance party covered in bows. Amazing.
