Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez keep giving us reasons to love them, and we are about list some of those reasons, but first a little backstory. When they first went public with their relationship in February 2017, we were like “OK, OK, this is an interesting pairing, this just might work.” They are both successful, they are both driven, they are both hands-on and dedicated parents, this could definitely work out. Three years later and counting it seems to be working out well. They got engaged in March 2019, have made us all marvel at the beauty of their blended family, and at least from our perspective they seem to be living their best lives together.

If you’re wondering why we feel compelled to share our love for them as a couple right now, there is a particular reason. We watched the virtual graduation speech that they delivered for the New York City class of 2020 and we loved it so much. Both Jennifer and Alex say great things on their own and each could have given a speech on their own, but what truly got to us is how well they managed to give a speech together as a couple. We love it and we love them for all the following reasons.
They are a double dose of inspiration.
Please feel free to watch the entirety of the speech that they gave for the graduating class of 2020 because it’s definitely 8 minutes and 54 seconds of your time. However, please allow us to share a couple of our favorite moments.
We love the part when Alex says, "You're not going to be measured in how many times you fall, but how many times you stand up," he said. "Baseball has taught me well. It is a hard, difficult game. If you fail 7 out of 10 times, you end up in Cooperstown. That's right, the Hall of Fame. It's the same in business, it's the same in education, it's the same in life."
Jennifer shared so many gems, but one of our favorites is when she says: “Become the leaders of tomorrow. You represent a new era of responsibility in this country. You have the chance to do it better than we did. You have the chance to be the leaders that you didn’t have. Change does not come unless you push for it and work for it. You know we hear a lot today about disruption. Disruption in business and technology, but these days we must all be disruptors in the area of humanity and equality as well.”
They show up and speak out!
They both have really large audiences and could simply tell their audiences what they support from the comfort of their very comfortable home—and they do. But they also show up in person to stand up for the causes that they believe in and they make it a family affair by bringing their kids with them.
They are blended family goals.
Both Jennifer and Alex are really into being parents. It is such a blessing that they have been able to blend their families so seamlessly. Jennifer’s twins and Alex’s two daughters truly seem to love being a part of each other’s lives. The love that they all share for each other is always on display.
They challenge each other!
Another reason why we are loving on them so hard right now is because of this hilarious video that J.Lo shared. Her caption reads: “How could I not challenge @arod to the #WorldOfDanceAgain Challenge . Machos got moves!!!! You wont want to miss tonight’s episode of @nbcworldofdance because he may just steal the show. ♥️ #worldofdance.” They are hilarious together and who knew that A-Rod could dance so well?
They make us laugh!
When they shared this TikTok, we lost it. We laughed so hard. Seeing A-Rod in Jennifer’s dress just about made us pass out. Way to sacrifice a dress to bring us joy, Jennifer. Thank you and more please.
They make each other laugh.
We shared that they make us laugh, but more importantly, they make each other laugh. On February 3, 2019, Jennifer posted a series of photos with the following caption:

They normalize love.
They are never afraid to show their love for each other publicly. Now, we know some people think that PDA is inappropriate, but we’re not those people. Why not normalize love and affection? We see so much violence and hate on display all the time and not enough love. We vote for more love.
They support each other.
They each have individual projects and careers that they are constantly working on, but when it’s time to support each other, they show up. In this picture, they are headed to the Golden Globes ceremony and Alex captioned the photo: “Heading to the @goldenglobes. Such an exciting night ahead. Good luck to @jlo and congrats to all of the nominees tonight for their amazing performances!”
They complement each other.
We all know that Ms. Lopez does glam like no other. Well, Mr. Rodriguez is no slouch when it comes to dressing up. He enjoys the red-carpet events as much as his lady love and dresses up to complement her glam. It’s not like they get all matchy-matchy, but they look good together.
They work well together.
As well as having a ton of individual projects that they work on separately, they also manage to work on things together. This photo is from a collaboration they did for eyeglasses. That they can work together well has to be a good sign, right? Not all couples even want to work together.
They don’t take themselves too seriously.
This is such a funny collaboration that they worked on with Kim Kardashian. It’s particularly funny because Alex is not afraid to be made fun of in the video. He’s trying to hang out on the video call with the two ladies when they so clearly don’t want him to be there.
They work out hard together.
Uh, have you noticed that these two have rockin’ bodies? They’ve got muscles galore. Muscles like that don’t just show up, they require a lot of work and these two do a lot of work and sometimes when they’re lucky, they work out together. It’s fun when they post their workouts online.
They play hard together.
It’s not all work and workouts for these two. They also know how to play together and have fun on their time off. This video is so cute because it shows how playful they are with each other. Even when Jen says she doesn’t want to participate, she does and Alex loves every second of it.
They relax together.
A couple that can relax together and sit in silence with each other is blessed. Sometimes that’s really all you want is to be in the same space with someone and not have to talk. It’s a time to recharge together. These two certainly seem to know how to just be in the moment together.
They’re each other’s ride or die!
Don’t you get the impression that these two have each other’s back no matter what? We hope that’s true because it would be so nice to see these two grow old together. Picture Jennifer and Alex as grandparents. They would be the best abuelos ever! Only time will tell if these two are going to go the distance, but we hope they do because we enjoy cheering them on from the sidelines.
