It’s 2025! Can you believe it! I spent my evening at home celebrating with my family as we played games and watched the ball drop in New York City on our TV. Afterwards, as has become my custom since social media exploded onto the scene, I took some time to check out how celebrities welcomed the new year.

Nowadays, we take it for granted that many of our favorite stars will pop onto social media and let us know what they are up to, but I’m old enough to remember when that wasn’t always the case. Celebrities communicating directly with their fans whenever they want to is a relatively new phenomenon and I’m here for it.
Check out how some very famous people communicated with fans as they celebrated the new year.
Christina Aguilera had some wisdom to share.
Xtina shared an eye-catching recap video on Instagram, but it’s her caption that really deserves your attention. She wrote:
“This year, doing something a little different.
This is a reminder to everyone that you are your OWN STORYTELLER in your OWN LIFE.
No one else can dictate who you are.
No one deserves an explanation.
I am evolved enough to know that nothing comes easy and no one is perfect.
Everyone will judge you. No matter WHAT you do.
And/ or what you don’t do.
Acceptance comes with accepting yourself first.
And the difficult journey it takes sometimes to get there.
I celebrate everyone taking the time to put one step in front of the next everyday in order to build the next version of themselves for the better.

Ariana Grande had a wicked good year.
The Wicked star shared a carousel of images and videos that showed some behind the scenes moments of her filming experience and wrote:

thank you eternally for your love and support, words truly don’t suffice. i love you always and am wishing you a all a very happy new year !”
Mariah Carey vamped.
The Queen of Christmas wished us all a “Happy New Year!!!!!! 🎉✨💕❤️,” and shared some pictures of herself in a shimmering gown. She posed in front of metallic balloons that went perfectly with her dress.
Khloé Kardashian was surrounded by loved ones.
“🖤 Happy New Year’s! Blessings only in 2025 🖤,” Khloé wrote alongside a carousel of her New Year’s Eve celebration. Scroll through and you can see Kim Kardashian trying to do the candle blowing challenge that has been making the rounds on social media.
Kris Jenner shared gratitude.
The momager shared pictures of some of her most important moments of 2024. She also expressed her gratitude in the caption writing, 2024 has been an unforgettable year, filled with so much love and many cherished moments.” Even so, she acknowledged that it wasn’t without “deep sadness,” as she lost her sister Karen.
Selena Gomez has a lot to look forward.
She’s engaged to music producer Benny Blanco and seems to be in such a good place both personally and professionally. To mark the end of the year, she shared a sweet carousel of photos that starts with a picture of a paper plate that someone wrote “I LOVE YOU” on followed by photos of her enjoying life with Benny and her little sister.
Roselyn Sánchez also acknowledged loss alongside gratitude.
The Devious Maids actress thanked 2024 on Instagram for some great moments before writing, “No thank you for Kike’s passing… that part was and will always be brutal. Unfortunately this year will always be marked by that.” Kike is the nickname of her 19-year-old nephew Carlos Enrique Sánchez , who died at the age of 19 in 2024.
Raúl de Molina was on the clock.
The cohost of El Gordo y la Flaca was working covering the New Year’s Eve festivities in New York. But don’t feel bad for him, he wasn’t all by his lonesome, as his wife Millie was there to celebrate with him.
Hilaria and Alec Baldwin were surrounded by their kids.
It’s hard to believe that the famous couple can get any rest or time alone when they have seven young kids together. Hilaria posted a carousel on IG and wrote:
“Happy new year! Feliz año nuevo! Love you all and can’t wait to have an amazing 2025! Only good things. No negativity and no fear ❤️ we wish you so much happiness 🩵.”
Jessica Alba ended the year with 'a heart full of gratitude.'
The mother of three shared pictures and quotes on Instagram. She also wrote:
“Gratitude ❤️ Here’s to a colorful past year that was filled with connection, growth, adventures, laughter, peace, sisterhood, transformation, rebirth, joy and so much love 🙏🏽 Sending hugs to everyone going through it- cheers to 2025 and even more love to come! Let’s goooo! 😘💫🐍🥂 #2025 #YearOfTheSnake #HappyNewYear.”
Mark Ruffalo acknowledged 2024 was not easy.
The 13 Going on 30 actor reflected on the past year with a picture of himself relaxing shirtless and wrote:
“2024 was rough, no way around it. As we move into 2025, let’s lean on community, kindness, and hope—and remember that rest is necessary for the road ahead. Here’s to brighter days and taking care of each other. Happy New Year, friends. ✨.”
Gloria and Emilio Estefan partied the night away.
They may have been at a party enjoying the night with friends and relatives, but they took some time to pop onto social media and let us all know how much they love us. Gloria seemed truly happy.
Lili Estefan was also partying.
The flaca part of El Gordo y la Flaca welcomed the new year being twirled around with by her son Lorenzo Luaces Jr. But that did not stop her from whipping out her phone to share the moment with all of us right at the stroke of midnight.
Dayanara Torres was busy working.
The former Miss Universe said goodbye to the old year and embraced the new year while in her beloved Puerto Rico. If you tuned in to watch New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest, you may have caught her hosting the countdown in Puerto Rico.
Salma Hayek kissed the year goodbye.
Salma shared a recap video of her very busy 2024 and wrote:
“2024, what a journey it’s been! 💫 As the year comes to an end, I want to thank each and every one of you for your love, support, and the beautiful energy you bring to this space. Wishing you all nothing but the best from the bottom of my heart for 2025 ❤️.”
Sofía Vergara celebrated with her son.
Sofía celebrated in Paris with her son Manolo Gonzalo Vergara. “Happy new year from Paris with my one and only❤️❤️🇫🇷🇫🇷🥳🥳🥳,” she wrote alongside a picture of herself and her Manolo. Both of them were dressed to the nines.
Rihanna was exuberant.
The mother of two hosted her own countdown via her Instagram account. After finishing the countdown and yelling “Happy new year!” she went on to say that she didn’t drink at all in 2024.
Paris Hilton and family took a trip.
Paris is deep into her motherhood era and loving it from what I can see. She spent the holiday in Maui, Hawaii, with her husband Carter Reum and their two children, Phoenix and London.
Alejandra Espinoza was working.
Alejandra was on the clock and on-camera in New York City, using her hosting skills to entertain those who tuned in to watch the celebration. Fortunately, she got to have her husband and her son there with her.
Celine Dion took a moment to reflect.
She posted a very dramatic photo of herself and thanked her fans for their “unwavering support.” She went on to wish all “a safe holiday and a fabulous New Year!”
