A 13-year-old girl in Brazil confessed to killing her mom.
On March 1, a woman named Flavia dos Santos Carneiro was killed in Maceio, Brazil—and her daughter has confessed to the crime. Police say her 13-year-old daughter admitted to hitting her mom on the head and then holding her down while the girl's 22-year-old boyfriend stabbed the mom, Metro reported. The woman was stabbed over 20 times.
The boyfriend also confessed.
"He said the victim’s daughter held her arms down and passed the knife to him before he stabbed her in the head, neck, and chest," Police Chief Thiago Prado said, according to the publication. "Initially the boyfriend alleged self-defense but his story fell apart because of the number of blows the victim received."
Of the girl's and her boyfriend's confessions, Prado added: "We didn’t detect regret or see any tears."
The daughter attempted to cover up the crime.
Allegedly, the girl sent WhatsApp messages to Flavia's coworkers following the murder. The messages said Flavia wasn't feeling well. Afterward, the 13-year-old reportedly placed her mother's body inside a refrigerator.
The girl's father was also arrested for assisting in hiding the body.
The girl's father allegedly tried to help her dispose of the body. He hired someone to pick up the refrigerator and dump it in the woods, telling them he was getting rid of old appliances. The father, 47, has since been arrested.
What was the motive?
An official motive has not yet been announced. However, officers have noted the boyfriend was a drug user, and that Flavia banned him from her home, The Mirror reported. Allegedly, an argument broke out when the teenager said she was going to move out and live with her boyfriend.
