As a refresher, Eva, 49, is married to businessman José Bastón. They tied the knot on May 21, 2016, in Valle de Bravo, Mexico. The couple welcomed their son, Santiago Enrique Bastón, in June 2018. Let's take a closer look at their impending international move.
Eva and José are moving to Spain so their son won't get 'sucked into the Hollywood cycle.'
On April 28, the Daily Mail reported that Eva and José were "quitting" their lives in Los Angeles. The parents are reportedly planning a move to Spain. According to insiders, José and Eva are reportedly worried their son would get "sucked into the Hollywood cycle" if they remained in the US.
They have reportedly already started shipping belongings.
Reportedly, Eva and José are serious about selling their eight-bedroom Beverly Hills home. They reduced the listing price from $22.8 to $18.9 million, the Daily Mail reported, and they've begun shipping their belongings to their Marbella, Spain, home. "Eva and José are leaving Los Angeles for good and have put their home up for sale again," a source told the publication.
Eva's Marbella, Spain, property started as a vacation home.
During a January 2024 interview with Hello! magazine, Eva explained she had been looking for a vacation property in Marbella for five years.
"In early 2023, this house came on the market. It needed refurbishing, but it had just the size and location I was after. So, taking advantage of the fact that I was in Barcelona filming, I came down and bought it that same day," the Desperate Housewives actress explained.
Her designer friend renovated and redesigned the home.
Eva's friend, Nicolás Escanez, who is an architect and interior designer, helped her renovate the home. Or rather, she trusted him to surprise her based on a mood board.
"Nico has incredible taste and knows me very well. I didn’t choose a single thing," she told Hello! "He showed me the mood board and said: ‘The feeling will be of spaciousness and comfort, and the palette will be gentle shades like beige, cream and white… I knew I didn’t have to worry about anything, that it would be the house of my dreams, and it is.”
Eva's Marbella home features 'lots of bedrooms,' a big kitchen, and even a home theater.
Eva dished on the must-haves her Marbella home checks off, including "lots of bedrooms" for her mother, sisters, and kids to stay in while on vacation.
"I wanted a garden for my son to play in, and a swimming pool because he’s always swimming," she added.
Another requirement for Eva was a big kitchen.
"In all my homes, I have a kitchen with a huge island, where everyone can sit together and have a glass of wine and nibbles while I cook," she explained. "I love the kitchen — it’s always the heart of the house. And the one here is the best of all.”
Eva has also opened up about her son being her top priority.
During a February 2024 interview with USA Today, Eva opened up about motherhood and how Santiago has changed her life for the better.
"He's such a priority in my life that it's easier to say 'no' to things, whereas before I was the center of my universe and I was like, 'Oh, I got to do that, I can't miss that opportunity. I've got to do it all,'" she told the publication. "Now the bar is so high, if it takes me away from my son, if it moves me to another country, if it takes up all of my time, it has to be worth it. The qualifications for a 'yes' are much harder and I'm much more focused on what I want to do."
