Britney Spears is reportedly ‘completely dysfunctional’ & on the verge of going broke

When Britney Spears was officially freed from her conservatorship in 2021, the "free Britney" movement rejoiced. The "Stronger" singer had been under the legal control of her father, Jamie Spears, and attorney Andrew M. Wallet since 2008. Britney could finally make her own life choices after 13 years.

Now that the pop star and her father finally settled their most recent legal dispute in court in late April, Britney can truly be free. However, one report from "sources with direct knowledge" of her situation painted a bleak picture of her life following the conservatorship. Because reportedly, Britney is "completely dysfunctional" and on the verge of going broke.

The source said Britney Spears is reportedly in 'serious danger' financially and with her mental health.

On April 29, TMZ reported that a source with "direct knowledge" said Britney is in "serious danger," both financially and in terms of her mental health. The "Lucky" singer is reportedly doing "way worse" than she was during the conservatorship. According to the unnamed source, Britney is "completely dysfunctional" without supervision and safeguards in place.

Reportedly, the singer is extremely isolated.

In addition to reportedly experiencing "wild mood swings," Britney is almost completely isolated, a source told TMZ. "She had lots of freedom in the conservatorship and the restrictions were there to protect her," one source explained. "She's not protected anymore."

Attorneys for Britney and Jamie confirmed to People on April 26 that they settled a dispute over legal fees, filed in December 2021, earlier that week. Britney agreed to pay Jamie more than $2 million. Reportedly, she was "furious" with the settlement, sources told TMZ.

On April 28, she slammed her family in a scathing Instagram post.

Britney took to Instagram on Sunday, April 28, with a long post that started with talking about her back pain. But she suddenly switched topics and began bashing her family. "My family hurt me!!! There has been no justice and probably never will be!!!" she wrote, per the Daily Mail. "The people who sat and did absolutely nothing when they did that for four months are smooth sailing!!!"

The message continued to call out her parents.

Britney didn't stop there. She continued her Instagram message, writing: "The way I was brought up I was always taught the formative of right and wrong but the very two people who brought me up with that method hurt me !!! I am so lucky to be here!!!"

Additionally, the pop star revealed that she feels like she won't ever be able to confront her family in person.

"It's funny 'cus till this very day I haven't told them face to face !!!" she continued. "I text through IG but I honestly believe it will not be so safe if I ever did go face to face so !!! The child in me knows they would be destroyed and that's basically it!!!"

Britney concluded: "I do miss my home in Louisiana and I wish I could visit but they took everything!!!"

Soon after, Britney deactivated her Instagram account.

Sunday's post was Britney's last on Instagram before she seemingly deactivated her account. The move came after the April 29 reports of her being in "serious danger" financially and emotionally. It's not the first time the pop star has temporarily wiped her Instagram; she has done so several times this year alone.

Hopefully, Britney just needs some time to process after a difficult week. We wish her the best!
