All about Mexican actress Eiza González, Jason Momoa’s new girlfriend

In January, Lisa Bonet and Jason Momoa released a joint statement announcing their breakup—this coming after five years of marriage, going on 16 years of being together, and having two kids together. Lisa tends to stay out of the spotlight, so we haven’t heard much about whether she has moved on and started dating since their split, but Jason is more of a limelight kind of guy, and now it appears he is dating someone, and that someone is Latina. Several outlets are reporting that the Aquaman star and Mexican actor Eiza González are dating.

"They are dating. He cares about her. He's in a great place, working on Fast X," an insider told People. "He's quite busy and he's in a good place." That particular insider went on to say that Jason and Eiza “are having fun together. It’s nothing serious yet.” OK, OK. Nothing wrong with having fun together. "Jason and Eiza started as friends, but always had an underlying chemistry," a source shared with ET. They certainly make for a handsome couple, that’s for sure. In honor of this budding relationship, let’s review some details about Eiza, who has been on our radar since her days on telenovelas, shall we?

Multiple sources have reported that Jason and Eiza are dating.

So far, neither Jason nor Eiza has confirmed that they are a couple or dating, but they haven’t denied it, either. Jason was recently even spotted at Eiza’s Ambulance movie premiere, but they did not walk the red carpet together.

Eiza has previously been linked to other Hollywood hunks.

Rumor has it that she dated Liam Hemsworth in 2013, D.J. Cotrona from 2014 to 2016, Josh Duhamel in 2018, and Timothée Chalamet, to name a few. And, of course, she also dated some famous people when she was still living in Mexico.

Much has been made about changes in her appearance.

Throughout the years, Eiza’s appearance has evolved. There has been lots of speculation on whether she has had plastic surgery or not. Eiza herself has admitted to having a nose job. The rest is speculation and none of our business if she doesn’t want to share.

She was born in Mexico City.

On January 30, 1990, Eiza González Reyna was born to Glenda Reyna and Carlos González in Mexico City. Growing up, she benefited from a bilingual education from two private schools in Mexico City: The Edron Academy and The American School Foundation.

Her father died in a motorcycle accident.

When Eiza was only 12 years old, her father died in a motorcycle accident. She shared in an interview that her father’s death, understandably, left her in a deep depression that took her years to get over.

She became a compulsive eater.

Eiza has been very open about her struggle with compulsive eating since her father’s tragic death. The actress wrote the following on Instagram:

"Between the ages of 15 and 20 was very hard for me because I used to eat compulsively. It took me a long time to decipher that it was all happening because I was depressed after my dad died. And it was very hard for me but I changed my eating habits and began eating healthier and I began taking care of myself in all areas. It took me 5 years to get out of depression and accept my loss."

Acting changed her life.

After the death of her father, her mother signed her up for an acting class, hoping that it would help Eiza. It did! “My life changed overnight,” she told Nexos Magazine in an interview. Kudos to her mom for helping her daughter find a passion she could focus on.

She became a telenovela star at a young age.

At the age of 16, she was cast in the Mexican musical telenovela Lola, érase una vez, which debuted on February 26, 2007. She went on to land many more roles in telenovelas, and in 2013, she decided to move to Los Angeles, California, to pursue her acting career in the US.

She’s kissed Justin Timberlake.

In 2018, she appeared in Justin Timberlake’s video for “Supplies.” Eiza first appears in the video wearing a black hood, and eventually around the 2:55 mark, Eiza and Justin share a steamy kiss. Of course, Eiza looks stunning throughout.

She’s also kissed Romeo Santos.

In 2013, years before smooching with Justin Timberlake in his video, she smooched on camera with Romeo Santos for his video of “Propuesta Indecente.” Hey, she can’t help it that popular musicians are casting her as their love interest and she just so happens to share kisses with them onscreen. It’s all in the line of work for her.

Her first big role in the US was in the series 'From Dusk to Dawn.'

In 2014, Robert Rodriguez cast her as Santanico Pandemonium in his series From Dusk Till Dawn. The role was first played by Salma Hayek in the 1996 film of the same name. Eiza shared that Robert had two conditions in order for her to get the role: She had to dye her hair dark and gain weight. The show filmed three seasons and helped Eiza gain visibility in Hollywood.

In 2015, she became a brand ambassador for Neutrogena.

"I'm humbled to represent a brand that values the Latina culture and encourages women to embrace a natural, beautiful and healthy appearance,” said at the time. This partnership also helped her gain visibility as she appeared in print ads and commercials.

In 2015, she had a cameo in ‘Jem and the Holograms.’

The movie wasn't a huge success or anything, but work is work, and Eiza is not afraid to work. “My mother was always an extremely hardworking woman and she set an example for me to follow all my life,” Eiza shared in the Nexos Magazine interview.

She had her first major US motion picture debut opposite Jon Hamm.

Eiza played the part of Darling, a cunning character who is in love with Jon Hamm’s character, Buddy, in the movie Baby Driver. The movie came out in 2017 and was considered a box-office hit, bringing in more than $208 million worldwide. Forbes called it “the summer’s MVP.”

She’s pretty much been working since she got to the US.

“It was not easy, but I have been fortunate to work consistently since the day I set foot in the United States. It is something for which I am infinitely thankful and I feel completely humbled and honored to have had that opportunity,” she shared.

She is going to play the legendary María Félix.

According to Deadline, “Baby Driver and I Care a Lot actress Eiza González, Oscar-nominated/Emmy-winning director Matthew Heineman and Linden Entertainment have partnered with the estate of the iconic Mexican film star Maria Felix to bring her story to life.” That’s huge!
