Alec and his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, have been harshly criticized for how they've handled public life in the aftermath of the incident, which occurred on October 21, 2021. While both posted messages of shock and distress on social media, Hilaria went back to posting tons of family content, and Alec has posted many messages defending the film's crew over the past several weeks.

A preview of the interview was released by ABC News on December 1.

ABC News released a teaser for the exclusive Alec Baldwin interview on December 1, the day before it is set to air. In it, he praises Halyna and is clearly in emotional distress as he speaks with George.

He claims innocence.

The most notable thing that's been picked out of the teaser video is that Alec says to George, "The trigger wasn't pulled. I didn't pull the trigger. I would never point a gun at someone and pull the trigger on them, never."

George questioned why the trigger was pulled.

George is shown pointing out to Alec that the script didn't even call for the trigger to be pulled in the scene that he was rehearsing when the incident occurred. Alec's claim that he didn't pull the trigger came in response to that line of questioning.

He also says he doesn't know why there was a live round in the gun.

George also asks Alec if he knows how a live bullet made it onto the Rust set, and Alec responds, "I have no idea. Someone put a live bullet in a gun. A bullet that wasn’t even supposed to be on the property."

Alec also says it's the hardest thing he's ever been through.

In the clip, Alec also says that this is the hardest thing he's ever experienced. "I think back and I think of what could I have done?," he said. The very same day the preview was released, his wife, Hilaria, posted a selfie of the two, with the caption, "one foot in front of the other."

George doesn't hold back.

George appears to question Alec quite bluntly, resulting in what looks like quite an intense interview, with Alec breaking down in tears at times. The special is called Alec Baldwin Unscripted and will air on ABC at 8 p.m. Eastern, on December 2, 2021.
