All about Ben Affleck & Ana de Armas’ failed relationship

Actor and filmmaker Ben Affleck made his way back to dating Latinas when he embarked on a relationship with Cuban actress Ana de Armas in early 2020. It had been a long time since his relationship with Jennifer Lopez which clued us all in to his affinity for Latinas, and the actor reportedly enjoyed his nearly year-long relationship with his Deep Water co-star, but the couple have now reportedly called it quits.

The pair met and started dating while on set in New Orleans, and rumors began swirling that they were a couple after they were spotted getting cozy on two separate vacations they took together after filming wrapped. A source has told People that Ana broke it off with Ben after deciding that her life is going in a different direction. "This is something that was mutual and something that is completely amicable," a source told the entertainment news site.

One look at Ana and it is clear why she has become one of Hollywood's most sought-after actresses. She is stunning and has several acting credits under her belt, including a stint as a Bond girl in the upcoming James Bond sequel, No Time To Die. Aside from her film with Ben, she also has several major projects in the works and it looks like her time in Hollywood is just beginning to really take off.

Ana reportedly ended the relationship.

"She broke it off," a source told People of Ana, who appears to be living in New York now. "Their relationship was complicated. Ana doesn't want to be Los Angeles based and Ben obviously has to since his kids live in Los Angeles. They are in different points in their lives; there is deep love and respect there."

There are no hard feelings.

"Ben continues to want to work on himself," the source added. "He has three jobs lined up and he's a solid father at home. They are both happy with where they are in their lives." So it appears that there are no hard feelings between the two busy celebs.

Ana and Ben did eventually go public.

She began her career in Spanish language films and has since successfully transitioned over to Hollywood. She starred in Knives Out with Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, and Toni Collette.

Ana is proud to be Cuban.

For Thanksgiving 2019, she listed all the things she was grateful for, along with photos of her in her homeland–and Cuba being her home was first on the list. "Thankful for calling this place home," she captioned the post. "Thankful for my family and friends, for my health. Thankful for all the opportunities I’ve been given and the ones I’ve fought for. Ana has been acting for quite some time.

Although it seems like her career is just getting started in Hollywood, she has been dedicated to acting for a while. She is a National Theater School of Cuba alum and got her first taste of fame as part of the Spanish drama series El Internado, which first aired in 2007.

The Cuban actress appeared on the cover of Vogue Spain and spoke about Ben.

After starring in the movie Deep Water together, Ana has firsthand experience on how the Oscar winner is as an actor. She opened up to Vogue Spain about her experience being his costar. "The first time we read the scenes together, it became pretty clear he was going to do something exceptional with a very complex role," she said. "His character is the engine of the story and requires him to move between tragedy and irony or between realism and the most absurd comedy."

She added: "Not only does he know how to do it with ease, he also manages to surprise you in every shot. His talent is infinite."

She was married to Marc Clotet.

"It was hard to imagine. It wasn’t reachable to get to that level of perfection, so tall and so glamorous. It was not on my radar. It was very flattering that they thought of me."

She moved to Spain when she was 18.

She was born and raised in Cuba but moved to Spain when she was 18 years old, and that's where she started her acting career. She opened up to James Corden about the culture shock, and revealed food was the thing that surprised her the most.

She wrapped filming for a new Netflix project.

She shared some behind-the-scenes of the filming of the upcoming Netflix release, Sergio, which is about Sergio Vieira de Mello, a United Nations High Commissioner of Human Rights, who was killed by terrorists in Iraq. "This project changed my life. We all came together on this because of the empathy, inspiration, love and respect we felt for Sergio Vieira de Mello and his legacy," she captioned the post. "Every single person I met throughout the shoot of this film I carry in my heart and will always remember with deep affection. Thanks to our Brazilian, Jordanian and Thai crews, you guys were the best!" 

It premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2020 and is scheduled to be released in April 2020 on Netflix.

"Five years from now, Ben Affleck is sober and happy, and sees his kids three and a half days a week, and has made three or four movies that are interesting to him," he said on GMA. "[And] directed two [movies] that he's hopefully proud of and is in a healthy, stable, loving, committed relationship."

She shared the photos he took of her while in Costa Rica.

Although Ben isn't in the pictures, he reportedly took them. The pictures show her on the beach at sunset walking at the edge of the water.

"They are without a doubt a couple," an eyewitness told E! News about them after seeing them on their trip. "They have been kissing, cuddling up together and putting their arms around each other a lot. They look at each other adoringly and like taking pictures of each other. Ben seems blissfully happy and giddy. He can't stop smiling and laughing. He is clearly is very into Ana."

"They have been staying at their home on the beach relaxing," the source added. "The weather has been very hot and they are trying to stay cool inside. They've been coming out for sunset walks each day and look very happy together."

Ben's ex, Jennifer Garner, reportedly approves of the relationship.

She considers him a friend, thinks he is a good dad to their children and respects him," a source told Us Weekly.
